It's a solid carbon bearing that contacts the cover plate, no it doesn't spin in it's housing. Never seen that type before on a Commer:)

There should be two clips to hold the bearing in the fork carrier type thing - are they there?

The other one is a roller bearing, I have one on LNK. It works fine and normally gives a slightly smoother clutch action but the carbon type has less to go wrong. ;)

Woooohoooo! I did it, I did it, I did it!!! The left over bolts are from the old gearbox lol! Everything all connected up and treated it to a couple of pints to celebrate:D...2 and a half actually of good old Halfords Classic 20/50[8D]


 
I even got the electrics all wired up and I don't think the switch and illuminater looks too out of place...
