I had a good look at Brian's heater box today layed on the floor in the cab, it looks pretty crusty and has been painted with black hammerite, however the heater works brilliantly when the bottom flaps under the dash are open, really toasty.
The vents that blow up to the windowscreen don't seem to work as well though, even when I close the bottom vents, the pipes feel ok, where else should I be looking or is the blower poor on the screen vents?

Hi Panky. Do you want me to take any measurements before I stick it all back together?
I ground down the welds and set up to paint it with Hydrate 80 today, but it was frozen [:0]

Hi,
Is the thingy in question not a heater, but a secondary engine cooling thingy to keep the van cool going up hills +5degrees. There are two modes hot, or very hot. When using this technique working quaterlights need to be functioning to avoid dehydration. The handbook also recommends drinking water a plenty, else know what that little lever on the engine is for!
Top tip, a hosepipe conviently fits on the input and output of the heater, i.e. a flush is possible in situ.
Top job on the welding!

Very good plan. As with most things commer related, once the rust is in the seam its a bit of a pain. It is constantly wet and warm so ideal for rusting - I put a load of wayoyle in mine too, but painting the inside was a little tricky.

Very good plan. As with most things commer related, once the rust is in the seam its a bit of a pain. It is constantly wet and warm so ideal for rusting - I put a load of wayoyle in mine too, but painting the inside was a little tricky.

Thanks for the hosepipe tip - I'm planning a cooling system refurb this winter and I was wondering how to get it properly flushed.
I'm not scared of hills - last week we took on the Berredale Braes with Jessica and she performed impeccibly - had to knock her out of overdrive for a moment though

Removed the heater box and everything else and was left with a decent front panel:
Heater Box has got rot on one corner and the lower pipe has rot as well. The flap is in a good condition considering. I will have to get a picture of it before I strip it down.
