Rear axle.

Hi I've been looking through my maintenance chart and I noticed there's a filler cap on the back axle, how often should I check the level in it? Finally do some of the lubrication points just need a squirt of oil on them?

Good idea to check the axle and top up with EP90 if you can find some. Cant really think of many oil can jobs besides door hinges and carb linkage maybe.

Thanks, is the screw easy to get off on the axle? Done the carb linkage and the door hinges. Does it have to be ep90 oil? Can you use engine oil?

Thanks. Will anyone be ok? Or is their a specific one? I've found an 80/90 Granville gear oil, will this be ok?

Had a look but there's to many to choose from, has anyone got any suggestions. I will be having a look at it tomorrow, the level should come up to the bottom of the filler cap?

I didn't think you could get EP90 any more but......

Just make sure you find out if it's safe to mix with 'old' EP90 before you buy, ask the question.

It's safe to mix, it does need topping up. Should I fill it to the underside of the filler screw?

Yes, make sure you clean around the filler plug so no crap can drop in when you take it out and top up until you can see it brimming. You can use the same oil in your steering box at the base of the steering column.
