Hi guy`s, i need a new exhaust and i`ve noticed some of you have put rc40`s on. Are these better than the originals and what mod`s. would i have to make if any, to fit one ?.
Cheers Bob.
A wise choice Bob [^] They are a very good system available in mild or stainless steel. Totally straight through, so there is very minimal back pressure, yet very effective as a silencer. Usually fit on in a couple of hours, an adapter sleeve needs welding on the stock exhaust to take the larger bore first box, then the pipe needs shortened between the two silencers. the outlet may need re-angling or shortened depending on which RC40 it is (side or centre exit), a couple of new hangers and it,s sorted. All you need is a little bit of 1 3/4 tube and a mig welder.
The engine will run 100x better for it, really noticable improvement, and better economy
"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
On a slightly more serious note, has anybody made a straight pipe version of the exhaust? I am not aware of the guts of an rc40 (is it straight through with performated tube and silencing material surrounding?) as i have several centre silencers i have kept from various cars that would be suitable if so me being scabby and trying to save money haha
As straight through as you can get, 1 3/4" bore, just about perfect. I put a system together that follows the rout of the original exhaust using off the shelf silencers and a but of fettling, again straight through and it works brilliantly.
