Excellent, thanks :) those links were very helpful! I could have sworn i read that people had used 2" tube somewhere on here... would there be any reason why i shouldn't do that?

Smurfs was 50mm ...somewhere on that thread there is a link to where I bought it...it was only about £55 if my memory serves me right...you can buy a downsizing sleeve to connect to your original down pipe, I chose to just fill the difference with weld...

I believe that for a price, Tim (racer) will port the manifold for you and connect 50mm tube so you can have improved flow all the way:D

I don't think you will gain anything but more noise, I seem to remeber the guru (Tim) saying 1 3/4" was good for engine upto 150 bhp or there abouts. Saying that parts of mine are 2" but the majority is 1 3/4"

Picked up a new (second hand) RC40 today which looks in decent condition for the Austin - £10.50 :). Thanks to eBay!

I saw that one Jon.....decided to bid for the stainless steel one instead.......I think I'm right in saying the one you got had been stored for a couple of years in the sellers garage? and he just wanted the space?

at 70mph + with the one I had on smurf, I would like to see how fast she went without the loss of power....:D

HMMMM...I had a spare RC40 with a middle box lying around (as you do) and decided to make an exhaist up for the commer....It's all fine and dandy apart from the ground clearance....4 inches, blummin down pipes are too long!!!! Am not taking them off at this late stage of the game, so will put the homeade exhaust somewhere safe.!!

I had to do some chopping and changing to get the Rapier engine twin down pipes nice and snug but well up and out of the way now:)

How much is that?

here is the one I fitted to smurf, if you read down a bit they can supplya front box for an extra £9 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-MINI-PERFORMANCE-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-NEW-SIDE-EXIT-/300594887826?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45fcd9fc92

The one in your pic doesn't look very straight through...you would probably have to cut it between the 2 boxes and rejoin it straighter
