Power Rangers - Operation Overdrive

thanks for the info Steve - its a bit of a pain as I can't give it a proper test until its all back together!

I have been worrying about having a positive earth relay on a negative earth van! The overdrive itself is off a rapier I think

ooh ok! I thought it was just me that read my blog;). I'll try to get some measurements over the weekend. I'm more than happy for you to have the actual Jig if you want it?

It will depend on the type of overdrive adaptor you have. The earlier ones (I have one going spare if anyone needs one[}:)]) need a different mount to the one I made.

The Bumper Book of OverDrive knowledge is coming along nicely so I should be able to post it for "review" soon.

Youll be pleased when youve finished. The O/D makes country b roads a much more pleasant drive flicking between 3rd high & low ratio IMO

I'm liking the sound of this Bumper Book of Overdrive ...

I just need an affordable overdrive box, which seems easier said than done these days !

A shame as fitting our alloy headed lump is dependant, as I want to do both together - and before the weather improves. I don't want to get it all apart and then miss the sunshine with it all in bits due to an unforeseen hurdle.
 
It has all the makings of a classic best seller. Once finished it will be an invaluable aid to those doing the conversion - as it stands it's just valuable ;)
Haven't managed to dig my OD box out to take photos yet I'm afraid BMM, will try next weekend.

On my van the switching lever sticks out of the centre of the dash and falls nicely to hand , looks just like the indicator stalk except it's all black, has a red warning light next to it.

An o/d box is a very worthwhile addition, you can flick beetween ratio's on third and fourth, this makes hilly roads a bit easier to negotiate and drops the revs enough to make wind/hill assisted 60mph cruising tolerable.

overdrives are the best things since bread (let alone slicing it)

got any pics of the overdrive installation (gearbox / mouting - switch and relay) I'm keen to see all the permutations.

My gearbox is (Was) working really well and got me to the last meet and back with no problems at all. Can't wait to get her back on the road for some more testing.

[^]I bagged a Humber OD switch off of ebay, I offered it up to the steering column and it fits just right[^] Just need to make the other half of the column clamp and shroud it in somehow - all designed to tax my little brain:I
