My New Baby!!!

Haha haynes... There are a few times i could have told them where to stick the screwdriver! I havnt done this job so not much help im afraid but i have always found with gear boxes its usually down to some small alignment issue. Good luck with it. Ods are brilliant!

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...

Any luck today Nick?

Haynes manual says that if this happens the planetary gears are out of line. Insert screwdriver and turn anti clock. Doesn't eleborate on where to turn and how much....any ideas?

I had that problem when fitting my OD. lots of wiggling. The screwdriver is to align the splines on all the different bits inside. I got quite good at looking down the hole in the OD and shining the torch at the same time.

Just been to see Jon fantaine to pick up a gearbox and propshaft, many thanks to all parties. Engine started to hesitate on big hills though....swapped the "new" commer fuel cap for the temp one and problem solved. The new one doesn't look vented to me.

And now to the wiring! Relay ordered. On the wiring diagram in Haynes....yes I know haynes is pants! There are 3 wires to the switch. What are these for? Thought there would be a feed from the inhibitor switch then the other to the od unit? I do have reasons for asking...my hand grenade gear lever has a lever and i thought it might be fun to turn this into the od switch!

You can if you don't bother with a 6RA relay. I fitted an MGB switch to the gearknob and operated the OD through a coventional relay, no self cancelling but the inhibitor switch stops it engaging in the wrong gears. You've just got to remember to switch it out - love the idea of turning the grenade clip into a switch[8D]
