hi it sounds like the pin inside the door hinge has worn which is causeing the drop when opened, either that or the door alignment is out. if you need new hinges i have new ones in stock, just give us a call.we could also re skin the doors for you if you like ,which would save mucho work for you good self.haha:D:p

News from engine tune up not good! Dizzy spindle worn and wobbly, leading to a scattery timing.
. SU carbs going to be tricky to set up, a lot more involved than "plug and play" biggest issue is that due to pedal travel the butterfly only opens by a quarter. And it cruises at 50 like that! Other issues involving breathers, vacumn and space! Back to the drawing board!
 
I had the same problem with my single SU. I got round the throttle opening by cutting and re-welding the quadrant further round where the throttle cable attaches. I've got about 80% movement and that seems plenty - call it an economy device:I

Scrap that I modded the spring tensioner on the end of the throttle spindle by cutting and welding as there wasn't enough tension on the spring to close the throttle. I made an adaptor plate where the cable meets the crank rod, at the side of the rad, to alter the angle on the bell crank and so give more movement. I'll see if I can find a pic to explain.

This is the only one I could find. I made the bracket initially because I moved the rad forward but have since re-made it from thicker steel and moved the bolt holes to give that little extra movement on the bell crank. I guess a bit of re-drilling your bracket should have the same result.

I understand there were two dizzies fitted. Hoping to pick one up at the resto show tomorrow. Any model numbers I should be looking for. 1725, twin carb rapier, Hunter engine?

Nick -good news on the dizzy- don't forget to match the coil to the new one - When I swapped from electric back to manual the coil lasted about 15 secs! Hazels Dad
