Can't remember exactly, but I think they will only go on properly one way. It seems logical that the little locating lugs on the shells should be on oposite sides, make sure the oil groove lines up on the two halves.

A good days work....I just dropped the gear box on to see that it still fitted...next thing I know I was bolting it up...will the engine go in the van like this through the door?
 
Wow:p that looks fantastic. I think you might struggle getting the lot in in one go but it might be worth a try:), did you take the front engine cover off.

You'll have to tip it at some crazy angles, might be safer to split it again and fit the 'box from underneath - unless someone else knows better;)

Engine build was the easy bit.....didn't enjoy dropping it in! Took the gearbox off. Still a swine of a job....a mini is easier!

Nick- The last time I saw you in your garage you were covered in oil with non matching bits of engine all over the place- this result is amazing - well done! ps Roof rack did the business all the way - very pleased -pics on Readers Rides and Chat - Hpe yours is on the road soon -Hazels Dad
 
I just need to fit the back box, clutch slave, double check everything, add oil and water and give it a whirl. Oh and must fit a new earth strap! Thanks for the handbrake tip panky...the manifold doesn't foul the handbrake cable!
