A couple of trips out and the exhaust really needs replacing. I was having a tidy up and had a look under my scamp kit car and remembered a maniflow exhaust system on there. 1.75 inches, single back box, I thought I might as well. I just need to raise the twin down pipes a couple of inches and away we go. Any one forsee any problems with this exhaust on an alloy headed engine? Hope it wont be too noisy.

Mine has a single box RC40 and personally I find it ok........give it a try as it is, easy enough to add another silencer if you find it too much;)

The maniflow went on without many issues. I bought 3, 45 degree angle bends. Two were used for the down pipes, which were far too long and hung down beneath the van. these are tucked up nicely under the van. The down pipes then went into a Y piece borrowed from a mini. This then went into another 45 degree bend and then straight into the maniflow back box, exiting just in front of the passenger side rear wheel. It is noisier, but not that much noisier (says deaf lad!!!)

Everything is going suspiciously well. Lots of trips up to the peak district and the associated hills all with no bother. No excuse now not to do a continental 2 weeks in August.....gulp, those famous last words.
One final last tweak in my mind....would it be worth swapping my front of rad pushing electric fan for a back of the rad sucker. The front of the rad is obscured by the kenlowe will swapping this be more effective. Also can kenlowe fans be reversed?

A sucker is more efficient than a blower but don't temp providence, if it's working OK then leave it, knowing your luck you'll end up putting a screwdriver through the rad:I
I'd check out what you need to swap it round and make sure you have all the bits to change it if you have trouble on your trip.

It cango ontheback of therad ok but you willneed to move the rad forwards, alter the throttle linkage, re work the fan cowling and perhaps remove the mechanicle fan...
The fan can just be wired up in reverse to suck.
I would agree with Panky, if it works leave it alone. I tried all this and ended up going back to standard.

I just need a good rootes...

Been fettling the van and pulled the heater off to see why it never has worked. All seemed fine....apart from rhe rust. I turned on the water pump to see if any water came out...and water came out both hoses.......aaaaahhhh! So thats why. I reckon I need to move the heater hose outlet to somewhere BEFORE the electric water pump, sobetween the outlet on the bottom of the rad and the pump....thing is I need a piece of water hose with a heater out let....where will I find one of them? First stop, the scamp to rob the mini bottom hose, which has the necessaries. Hope its the right size!

Yup you need one heater connection on the pump outlet and one on the inlet. Since the Rapier lump in Harvey didn't have a heater valve on the head I made a new thermostat housing to incorporate a heater feed and put a T piece on the rad bottom hose to take the return.

It all sounded so simple!!!!!
T piece arrived today so I fitted it between the bottom "exit" from the radiator before the electric pump. I then blanked off the hose that I had just disconnected and filled her up. Started her up and nothing came out of the Heater hoses and the van got v hot very quick.
Having looked at the manuals for the related engines to my mongrel I have deduced the following:
1. The heater outake from the alternator side of the engine goes to the heater.
2. There is a cylinder head by pass hose like on some minis. The pipe from the bottom of the thermostat was blanked off. The other part of this is where the heater intake was plumbed on the old water pump housing. This is now blanked off.
3.The top hose is as it should be.
4.The bottom hose now has the new "T-piece" and then goes up to the electric water pump. The water then is sucked through the electric hose and pushed into the engine block through the old water pump housing that has been emptied of all internals and blanked off where the impeller exited.
There is a thermostat in place with a couple of small holes drilled as recommended for the electric pump.

Any ideas as to what the issue is?

Maybe this isn't something I should be messing around with, with less than a week to go till our road trip to france....lol

I think you have produced a big radiator by-pass, either that or an air lock. What happens if you close off the heater valve?

There is no heater valve lol. Maybe I should try fitting a cylinder head by pass. With pump running and the heater hoses disconnected., no water.
