Shells? What Shells? lol The ones to the rear of the engine are ok, but as you get closer to the front, they get worse...and worse. The crank is at the machinist, apart from that, all seems to be in order. One of the unions to the oil pump was loose, so maybe lack of oil pressure killed it?

10 thou off the crank...New shells, thrust washer, oilpump etc etc....and she runs. Mwahahahahaaaa. Engine just cooling so I can re-torque the alloy head.
Head re-torqued. I also have 4 forward and 1 reverse gear. 8 don't want to get my hopes up, but have never managed to get this far with the overdrive box. Just need to wire that up....fingers crossed

Real life has overtaken my dreams of getting the van ready early. Far too much going on at work at present.
Well overdrive on my van appears destined not to happen. I sorted out the crossmember bracketry and was tightening the very last bolt up which attaches the, bracket to the OD unit, when I was greeted by a trickle of oil and a never tightening bolt. The b*gger had sheared off making ahole in the OD unit. Took it off and a friend tig welded it up, I put it back on and the same happened. So I completed my favourite job today....Gearbox off...gearbox on.
My friend has just started tig welding alluminium, so I can't blame him. I will find someone more experienced and will also get them to beef the casing up, I am not too keen on how the bracket and o/d mate.

No, There are two lugs off of the o/d box that the bracket bolts to. I did think they were not "beefy" enough to support the weight...turns out, I was right.

In more positive news, I have just "won" a 1725cc alloy headed engine on ebay, it also has an alloy sump and rocker cover...interesting!
Is it "hard mounted"? I thought that the rubber donuts attaching the cradle to the chassis would provide enough "give"
Ahhhh I see! lol, well it's off the van now for the moment....Summer is Coming and I we are away for easter in the van.
