My beautiful Wife

Martin words will never be able to replace what has been lost but please accept our sincerest condolences Karen was a real trooper a great Yorky and most of all a lovely person who always had a smile for others Jackie and Colin

Been a long time since I have been on this board and I saw this thread on my return.
Martin, I don't know what to say, I have never been great with words. I hope you are ok and I know Karen will be sorely missed.

Bazil.

Martin, if there is any form of memorial donation/fund page please please let us all know - especially in the name of such a wonderful lady. RIP Karen

Martin I felt the say - I know that she was very much committed to charity work in Selby - if you had a charity in mind that you would like to support in her memory then I would like to do so.

Fantastic idea, I have just sorted it http://justgiving.com/fundraising/Karen-Maltas
This is on behalf of a new charity, Second Hope, this is the only UK charity specifically for people living with advanced breast cancer. Their mission is to provide hope and strength by raising awareness, providing support, campaigning and funding research into advanced breast cancer. www.secondhope.org.uk
It's not widely published but 30% of women with primary breast cancer will get secondary or metastatic breast cancer. Only 20% of those women will survive more than 5 years. Karen only survived 18 months.

Sorry for the late response Martin but I send you my deep condolences. Cancer is such a vile word which has taken away somebody beautiful in everybody's precious circle. So sorry.......

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss Martin, my sincere condolences. I never met Karen in person, but you've often mentioned her in your posts and sounded like a great lady.

Martin, I am so sorry to hear this. Having lost my husband 5 years ago, the grief of losing a partner is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Although I only met her a few times, I think of her every time I put the cab bed she made for Rupert up, but now it will be an act of remembrance. When I picture her, it is always with a smile on her face (which I always thought was resignation at having to put up with you and your commers - I'm glad to hear she was as much of an enthusiast as you!). There are no words that can be said that will make the pain any less, but I hope everyone's kind words will help you to cope with that pain and find a way to move on.

image.jpeg Yesterday was a very hard day, but we got through it. We gave Karen a beautiful send off. Thank you to everyone who attended and those who sent messages that were unable to attend. We raised £800 on the day for Macmillan Cancer Care and St.Leonards hospice. My just giving page has now raised over £1500! This just shows how much Karen was loved by family, friends and colleagues.
Rest peacefully now my darling. xxx

Sorry I couldn't attend. It does go to show exactly that - I met Karen only a couple of times and the amount the news has upset me just goes to show how kind, friendly and special she was.

Martin, I have been away for a couple of weeks and come home to learn of your devastating news. I only met Karen on a couple of occasions, but on each occasion she was bright, cheerful and welcoming. I am glad to hear that Karen had a good send off on Tuesday.
