Lilith the V8 racing Spacevan

Thanks guys.
The other reason for not fitting windows is that I have spent my entire budget already!!!

Just hoping campsites don`t turn us away as it is a "commercial vehicle i.e. Transit or similar" due to having no windows in the side............. Only one way of finding out.

I love the slatted opening windows though. Maybe later:D

Just drained the tank........ Again. This time to reseal the level sender unit. Unfortunately the cork gasket crumbled. So I need a new one or something cork/rubber to make one with. (it's half a tick in a box. Lol)

I also figured out why my fuel gauge was erratic.... The tank sender was fixed in at a 45 degree angle [:0] It read full and empty ok. Anywhere in between that the arm was swinging around!!

Finally got round to taking the gearbox out....... Found a core plug behind the starter which is more of a strainer than a plug.....
Hoping Martin comes up trumps tomorrow... I have another 200mile round trip next weekend

That's a typical one for rotting through[xx(] Also the one on the back of the engine behind the flywheel, if you've got the gearbox off may as well change that one as well:)

Hi Paul it was nice to meet you on Friday night, your doing a great keep it up. It's a shame you can't make Tatton but I'm sure you will have a good holiday and we shall see you at Martin's in September

Panky. I would have done but needed the van mobile ASAP as this weekend the rest of the cupboards were getting fitted.
I say were.... Just been out to test drive the van. Can't say if it's ok or not as it cut out....... The cause?
The centre bush in the dizzy cap has collapsed and split. Dropped into the electronic dizzy and shorted it.... Its burnt out:-(
No spark from coil. I substituted an old dizzy with points and it sparks nicely.
All I need now is another pair of hands and a few more hours in a day so I can fit and time the old dizzy in for the weekend then save up for a new electronic one.
Gutted is not the word.... One step forwards three back.

Bloody hell[V] that's a blow.
Thinking ahead why not go for the electronic points instead of a new dizzy, a lot cheaper at £30:I

Thats not a bad idea. Need to do a 200 miler on Saturday. Have contacted Martin about a replacement base plate for the electronic dizzy. If not I will fit points for now until I can save for the electronic base plate as you suggest.

Ok. So this is where we are.... The drive on the original dizzy I have is worn. I fitted it and got 1/4 turn of slack on the rotor arm before the advance spring!!
The solution. Strip the drive off the electronic one to fit the old one.... Only 1 problem. The electronic one has been machined metric!. Out came the imperial drills.... Took a while but it's on, fitted, timed up and running!!!. I seem to be able to get all 4 gears and as yet the exhaust isn't blowing!

Probably be more reliable too.
Back down off the ramps. Fresh 20/50 in the gearbox. All gears seem to be there but only time will tell.....
Fuel tank drained again, replaced tank sender seal.
Tried tightening the fan belt but it wont go anymorr. Nrw belt required tomorrow so I csn test drive for the 200 miler on Saturday. Nowt like cutting it fine!!

New fan belt on. Propper test drive now. All gears are there. Speedo now working too! 200 mile round trip tomorrow!
