have discovered a factory design error in the aerodynamics [xx(] now it exceeds its design speed the engine lid pops its rear pins lifts up and lets the front clip undo so the lid levitates off and floats around the cab [:0]
the best of british motor industry technology, you have to love it :D

That's not a design error, it's built in to allow more cooling air around the engine at high speed :D
I think Christopher Cockerell had a J4 and he used the engine cover as inspiration for the hovercraft :)

spent the w/end making a new ali inlet manifold to suit yet another carb, a mk2 amal 40mm this time :p had to change the exhaust manifold as well as like commers they bolt together [xx(] so it now sports an mgb stainless 3-2-1 manifold. just needed to modify it a bit to clear the fuel pump. did slightly miscalculate the inlet length, leaving very little room for the k&n filter [B)] but its on and after much jet/needle swapping it now goes off the clock by quite a big margin [^] even managed to outdrag a renault traffic van from 2 roundabouts :D[8D]:p[:0]

and i have also managed to stop the levitating lid as well :D

beautiful! I get all unnecessary with myself over vehicles like this, would have a drivefull if I could afford it, or me old man would let me ;)

Just how fast was that [:0] It looked like the speedo went up to 80 and you were way past that. Any other mods besides the carb :p

speedo goes up to 70. nearly on its second lap :p
only mods so far are the carb+manifold and exhaust system. just goes to show how important breathing is to engines as well as humans [8D]

bought some new boots :p 7x17 from a nissan 200sx and much to my surprise they fit straight on [:0] just had to remove the centre caps on the front ones ,how coooool is that [8D]

Well, it was only a question of time. I've had commeritis since 2005 and my entry into this "mad gang" had to come sooner or later. Turned out to be later, but that's my loss :)

So now the community is two Commers richer. And I wonder if I'm the only "forward control" owner in Norway. I hope I'm not, but it wouldn't surprise me if so was the case.
