The VW owner that parked head to head was as sad as me and immedieately got snapping with his camera!! He was a sound lad and has been all over Europe in his Split. Once I'm a little more confident, I'll have to broaden my travel horizons too.... Holland is nice and flat
Renaultvation, I think the interior is the best bit about the van; it's in very good nick. The only mods are a liesure battery (next to the gas :I) and a couple of useful lighter sockets.

I think the secret is out! It was listed in the Observer or some other paper as being one of their top 50 campsites. As a result, they've had a bumper year which makes it' trickier to book. I reckon they might relax the rules for a big group?? I went off season after the school hols, no advance booking possible, just turn up on day.

I've had a busy couple of weekends changing the clutch that was starting to seriously slip. Another job that's a little bit more fiddly on a Commer than other cars I've owned, but not too bad all in all. I was very surprised that I managed to slip the gearbox in myself. It's a heavy old lump I noted as it pinned me to the block paving. I also managed to de-grease the engine and box which makes her underside much more pleasant to work on - well it would if I didn't filth up the driveway in the process! It also doesn't stop the oil making a bid for freedom at every opportunity!
The release bearing was just a little worn... I'm not familiar with this type; it looks like a block of carbon or similar?
I think the plate was pretty much on the limit too!
Does anyone know whether the relay lever should have a bush on the end that slots through the bracket which attaches to the chassis? Mine isn't bushed and it doesn't look right to me, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, I went for an MOT this morning. Apart from nearly getting the living daylights beaten out of me by Mr. White Van Man in a bout of road rage, all was very well - she passed! And not a single advise either! I asked my tester why he took so long testing the front brakes; I thought maybe the handbrake needed adjustment. Turns out he couldn't believe how good they were! He was also rather impressed with the condition of chassis. It's not often I impress my tester, so I'm pretty pleased, if £55 lighter [B)]

i think they are supposed to have some kind of bush, Sybhil didn,t and was a very loose fit ,so i ended up turning up a aluminium bush, it makes a big difference to the gearchange as it takes up lost motion

Hmmmmmm very interesting. Someone must know for sure. I might have to commision you for a bush commeracer, sounds very worthwhile I've heard of a nylon (I forget its name) that's self lubricating which sounds ideal for the job.
Don't think you've any MOT worries with your lovely van Igman. Could idea to check for clearence though, I only cleared the MOT bay roof by 6" or so.
