I would be interested in the details on the bush for the gear change, I have noticed mine didin't have one and it was on my list of 'things I need to get/sort out'. Presumably it is a case of make your own.

Hi Stan n van, sorry I didn't see that you wanted measurements. If you're still interested, measurements for the bush are -

Outside diameter 20.60 mm
Internal diameter 15.75 mm
Length 17 mm

To be honest, these measurements will vary from Commer to Commer being that we're talking about components exposed to the elements. These should do you, but measuring yourself with a set of calipers is the way to do it. A friend of mine reckons PTFE is better than stuff like Nylon 66 as it doesn't swell with water anywhere near as much. I think Commeracer may also be knocking these out now so worth asking :)

I took the bracket off no.1, which is just as well as it doesn,t go together as i thought :I
just need to get the radius a bit closer and all is well :)
Don,t be tempted to replace this with a plain bush, as its spherical and needs to swivel like a rose joint. A plain bush will just rub on the edge of the pressed cup and cut a groove [xx(]

Hmmmmmmmmmm, very interesting. I don't get why it needs to swivel? I thought it (the relay shaft) was only transfering forwards and backwards motion???
 
Its to allow for the fact that the g/box is rubber mounted and moving about :)

The Tulip has been getting a surprising amount of use this year despite things being manic in general. We managed a short break in Dorset and the New Forest and took my mother along too. She tried out the front fold down bed for the first time and confirmed that if you’re <5’ 2” and sleep diagonally then it’s really rather comfortable.

We also got to try out a period Blacks awning I bought off my mate last year. He remembers getting it in 1977 with his uncle and reckons it was only used a couple of times since. I love it!

I did this to the bumper on my very own fence. The air was blue I can tell you and I later took it out on a shrub afterwards which had a part to play in the debacle. Anyone going to Coventry that’s got a good bumper they want to sell? I might be interested.

Bumper-gate was offset but some real good fortune. I was at the local classic car show and got talking to an old fella. He told me he bought some panels for his Dodge from a dealer back in the ‘80s. The Dodge got scrapped and so did the panels nearly. He asked whether I would be interested in buying... Needless to say I was round his like a shot and got a very good deal (sorry Woolfy, still got plenty business for you though :))

A couple of weeks ago we killed two birds with one stone and spent a few nights exploring East Kent and then nipped over the channel for some booze for our forthcoming wedding. I was as excited about going on to French soil in the Commer as I was nervous about the gendarme giving me grief. Despite under steering all over the shop on the greasy roads of Calais, mission gribbit was a success.

A good chromer would have experience in beating out that dent and then build it back up before dipping.
