Also small problem, i will come clean.. im only 19...[:0] No insurance for people under 21 or 25

ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!![:(!]

if you click the search option and tap in insurance there is several threads on this topic, with some useful numbers, good luck :)

Everybody has their favorite, but I use Barry Granger 08701128103

Barry came in best for me but I had to certify myself as a member of my club (this place counts and I'm happy to send letters everyone)

I've used Barry Granger for my Karrier Bantam for years now and its always a good quote. I tend to use Heritage for my classic Hillmans and they're very good.

Theres usually some ads in the classic magazines, take a look and call round a few.

kjh;)

Flipping all closed on Saturdays, how very, VERY irratating!

I hope its not too much! My personal insurance on my normal car costs enough!

HI i use Peter James website www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk tel 08450999500 other members in our club also use them post your results when you get fixed up well worth shopping around :)

Does Barry Granger offer chance to drive other vehicles third party on their policies? is what I miss most with my Lynbrook cover - which seems pretty good otherwise :)

I may be stating the obvious but make sure you get a classic - limited mileage policy, you'll be surprised how cheap you can get it. The lower the mileage the cheaper the policy and because you have got an every day car you can keep your van for special outings - like coming to see us lot at our Gatherings :D

This is proveing to be a right pain for insurance.

I don't know what im going to do about it, because it needs to be in my partner's name, because his name is on the V5 but he is already on an extra policy, so he has to add me and the commer. i dont even know if they will insure the commer. Everyone else just gets really snooty about us being under 25 :(

sigh... [V]

Kelsey28 have you tried the numbers above? Your boyfriend wouldn't need to add you and the commer to his current insurance (for his day to day car) He would just need to get a NEW policy from those suggested above. I'm 26 and Cara 25 (at time of getting our insurance) and it cost us about £80 for the year. That is fully comp for both of us AND covers us on foreign soil!

OR could you change the ownership of the vehicle into your name?

Yeah ive tried all the numbers above, Barry Granger insures people of our age, but not with a Commer (Bizzare i know) we have to be 23
And all the others are 25 and over. Ive even tried some other random companies but i dont get any where.
All the comparison websites don't have Commers in their databases so it means i have to call them all up seperatly, go through all my details just to find out that they don't insure Commers...

Any clues? [V]

How frustrating! How old is your partner? You could try -http://www.sureterm.com/classic-car-insurance.php thats for people from 21.

http://www.lancasterinsurance.co.uk- They used to have a scheme for 17-21 year olds for classic car insurance i have read.

Perhaps the best thing to do is insure it in someones name who is over 25 or over 21 if the above company will- and add yourself as a named driver. You on top of the insurance wouldn't cost much extra as just a named driver. I also found this -

'You are unlikely to be able to get classic car insurance under your own name if you are under 25. It must also be your second vehicle, and often it must be garaged. However, given that classic policies are agreed value, limited mileage, they do not ask for no claims and they do not give it. Thus there is absolutely no downside to being a named driver on a classic car policy with a main driver who meets all these criteria, even if they never in reality even drive the car. That's what I do'

Hope some, rather than none of that helps!

Ive just called Lancaster, they will only insure my boyfriend who will be 21 in June 3rd party only for £656.02...

Waiting for someone from Sureterm to call back for some reason.

So i can't drive at all and that sounds like a lot for a lil van that doesnt even go 70mph [V]

The NEW Girlfriend in a Commer

Wow that is a lot! Especially if its not your main vehicle. I would be tempted if it was me to transfer the owners name to my dad and insure it in his name with your boyfriend and you as named drivers.

Have you tried Adrian Flux, they have policies specially for young drivers - according to their adds.

would be interesting to know where the darksiders get there ins for younger drivers or if it is a problem [?]
I know my daughter couldn't get insurance at 17 (they said no way or when she is 19 some said not untill she is 25 [:0] )I couldn't get it with her on L plates either & that was a mini [V]
