HFB 287G Lulu and her history

Has anyone taxed a car, that has been sorned, on the internet. I know that I can tax a vehicle that has a valid tax on it such as my rover which I did on the net, but I don't know if I can do it with a vehicle that has been off the road and had a change of colour. I feel certain that someone on the forum will have the knowledge and be able to take my hand and lead me through the process.

Yes you can, I did it with Bonnie. A word of caution though - I didn't realise that you had to re-SORN a vehicle when it changed ownership even if it wasn't due. I had a bit of a heart stopping moment when I went to tax it on line and I got a message that I could be liable for prosecution and a BIG fine[:0] All was well though and they let me off because there was no duty to pay but if a vehicle is not tax exempt it's a different story[xx(]

Oh dear, When I got Lulu she was sorned. I had her registered in my name but never bothered with having her resorned. Now of course she is a different colour so I wonder if I should inform Swansea before Woolfy gets her finished or should I wait and tax her first.:(

Get in touch with them tomorrow and sort the SORN out, there's a number on the DVLA website. Just explain nicely and I'm sure it will be OK.

Thanks John, I've just been and found the number so I'll definitely give them a ring tomorrow. I would have been as sick as a parrot if Woolfy told me the van was ready for picking up and I then found that I couldn't tax her.[:0]

I have rung DVLA this morning and spoke to a most helpful young lady.
She advised that I should have had Lulu sorned in my name when I bought her and she could see that she hadn't been sorned since 2011. Anyway she sorned her there and then, the sorn to run from the beginning of this month as she couldn't do it any further back. She then advised me to ring the DVLA enforcement team, which I did and the chap I spoke to had a bit of a laugh as I had to pay a penalty of the price of the road tax from when the sorn ran out, but as the tax was zero the penalty was zero. Now Lulu is all legal and as soon as Woolfy has finished her and had her covered with an MOT, I can tax her on line or at a post office. The sorn is then automatically cancelled. I can then send the relevant documents to DVLA to notify them of change of colour. So thank you for making me aware of the fact that I should have had her sorned in my name.[)]

Once again thank for putting me on the straight and narrow.
the worst thing about ringing the DVLA is when they give you 7 choices so you pick one and then there is another 7 choices followed by 3 choices then 2 choices and another 2 choices, absolutely ridiculous if I may say so.[:(!] Why can't they go back to the good old days where some one answered and said "good morning, can I help you"[}:)]

We have 2 idiots on here, as it was known as the dog and bone and yes I remember when no one had phones and there was only one phone box in the village about a mile away. It had 2 buttons "A" for if the operator connected you and "B" to get your money back if they couldn't get through. Anyway I don't know why I'm telling you two when you probably remember when you had to turn a handle to get connected :D[)]

Yes thanks for that John but she is starting to look good and I'm hoping to turn up at some meets in her and if there's enough room I could take my karaoke gear and we could keep everyone awake.[}:)][}:)]Just joking as I don't think the gang will be the singing kind.
I was getting a bit worried as I thought I was the only one on here tonight[:0][:0]
