Ok, it's been a busy week!
MOT was booked for last Wednesday, but didn't happen until Thursday am. I Got the phone call I had been dreading/expecting "It's failed". Ho hum! So we popped over to see the garage and have a chat. Turns out, it only failed on a seizing rear brake and a failing front shock absorber, so Skate said to the man "If we could get the parts to you today, would you give it a go to get it finished tomorrow?" To which he replied that he thought he had a fair chance.
So, off we popped to Brighton to visit the magnificant "Speedy Spares", we were back at the garage by 3.00, by which time he already was taking the brake cylinder off, ready to try the repair kit. We left him to it and came home. The next morning at 0830 I got a phone call telling me that Frodo was ready to go!
Off we dashed, picked up Frodo, got him back home packed him up and were on our way to the "End of the Road" Festival by 1.00!
To those of you who don't know, at the start of the summer, when we bought our festival tickets, we also bought a campervan ticket - I jokingly said to Skate "that gives us a must do by date" As the year wore on, and I spent more and more time abroad for work, this date looked increasingly unlikey, but with every spare evening and every spare weekend for as long as I can remember spent in the barn, we made it!!!!!
Couldn't have been much closer though!!
The festival was great, Frodo ran like a dream (if you can ignore the diff that screamed anywhere above 35-40mph, and the oil leak from the front of the engine (750ml in about 100 miles)) The only downside was Johns V8 van not making the last 8 miles and having to go home on a tow truck. After a week or so of not doing anything van related, we are going to make a start on the interior.
It's great to be Commering again!!!
FRODO LUVS YA!
