So 4 cans of Newcastle brown and half a bottle of red wine later has got me thinking of why owning a commer is so special. I'm nearly 50 now and can probably buy and own a modern camper van/ motor home, but it could not compare with the sheer pleasure of owning and driving some quintissentialy (think thats how you spell it!) Great British engineering, the nostalgia of visiting places like Scarbrough and Whitby in it is overwhelming, places I used to be taken to by my parents in the 60's when my father owned Singers and Hillmans (and a fantastic PA Cresta). Its not a 'mid life crisis' (or is it) but a yearning for a simpler time. (it is a mid life crisis isn't it!) I suspect it is the same reason a lot of you own one, especially those of my age, but this is me now , I cannot see myself without my van , although it's not got a name, untill I'm too old to use it. so there you are!.
