I don't know how your later interior pics slipped under my radar. Absolutely stunning, that's got to be the best Commer interior that I've ever seen. I wish I had the 4' 3" bed option too! I'm guessing you have re-varnished the panels? What did you use? It looks like an excellent match.

And what's the doorbell by the sink for??!

Damn! forgot how to do pictures!, thanks for the comments, the door bell operates the pump for the water, the previous owner fitted it instead of the foot pump, which is great but you have to press it with your knee to wash your hands with running water!. The cabinets were very dry so I give them a coat of worktop oil to liven them up, it's ok for now but I am going to strip and repolish them soon spraying them with cellulose lacquer (what was originally used).:)

So 4 cans of Newcastle brown and half a bottle of red wine later has got me thinking of why owning a commer is so special. I'm nearly 50 now and can probably buy and own a modern camper van/ motor home, but it could not compare with the sheer pleasure of owning and driving some quintissentialy (think thats how you spell it!) Great British engineering, the nostalgia of visiting places like Scarbrough and Whitby in it is overwhelming, places I used to be taken to by my parents in the 60's when my father owned Singers and Hillmans (and a fantastic PA Cresta). Its not a 'mid life crisis' (or is it) but a yearning for a simpler time. (it is a mid life crisis isn't it!) I suspect it is the same reason a lot of you own one, especially those of my age, but this is me now , I cannot see myself without my van , although it's not got a name, untill I'm too old to use it. so there you are!. Slightly embarrased :I

I thought it was a buzzer to call the maid.. :D

I think you hit the nail on the head - they may have become 'cool' but you echo my sentiments exactly:)

this van looks absolutly flippin fantastic mate ,its a credit to you mate, excellent work, i dont think its a mid life crisis as ive felt like that since i was 18 and still feel like it today, its like you say ,just a love for a more laid back simple way of life from a bygone era. ive always had classic cars all of my life since i first passed my test at the age of 17, my first car was a triump 2000 and this is the longest time ive been without one on the road, 2yrs more or less todate. when i see your van lokking as good as it does it makes me very envious. good on you mate ,i love it.;):p:(

Gorgeous!

The first van I have seen like our 'Wilma' that has no cupboards behind the seats...rare. (See members vans for similar interior shots.) She is lovely.... our Wilma is very tidy but your leather front seats and cab carpet just nick it!

Praise indeed Ray, I think I said on a thread earlier this year that if my van turned out half as good as yours I would be happy!, so thanks for that. Someone earlier was talking about legroom,he was 6ft 2, with this configuration you can sleep long ways on so your feet are in the cab, we've done it a couple of times cos of my gammy knee, the wife tilted the passenger seat forward and put a pillow on it, she's 5ft 2 so it was ok!. Woolfy - It was your panels wot did it, I think I got your first rear corner! A northern meet wouldn't be the end of as the world as there is some beautiful countryside around here. Thanks again for your favorable comments:)
