Drip...drip...drip...

By-pass the heater for now by joining the two hose ends together, at least that will prove if it's the matrix that's knackered or not.

[:0] What I'd give for an airbox still in that condition !

Always tricky to tell from pics but that don't look too bad at all - all the key places seem intact & certainly repairable.

Personally, I would dip in a decent rust disolver (ie. Bilt Hamber's DEOX-C), stabilise the clean surface (ie. BH Electrox), repair any damage (doesn't have to be pretty, as hidden from view ;)) and then paint.

Hope the temporary fix proves the theory and stops your leak [8D]

Had heard of this Mini option;)

But:) a. haven't got one:I b.they're smaller and I might need a second one in the back:( c. probably quite good in a Mini:) d. haven't finished with this one yet;)

Indeed, on close inspection of the matrix seam at the leak site the solder looked a little low/flawed, so I added some more:)

Temporary solution to any heater grille rainwater ingress:)
Tricky removing the plastic bottle thread though with the dreaded stanley knife:I
Should have used the grinder;)

I can't see any blood so it must be OK:I
One flaw in your design, don't go round any corners in the rain;)
