Dozers V6

Here we go - at last a post to update ya'll on whats going on with the beast. <p>

Picked it up from Dozer in late Jan - drove it up to Scotland - quite quick (about 5 1/2 hours) Faultless drive! Anyway, its having a big makeover in preparation for June. Tomorrow I pick it up from the paint shop[8D] The interior seats have been re-covered so thats all straight. Had to do some bodywork (bottoms of the doors) before the paint job (I hate filler!)

Anyway - photo's will come soon! Its not blue anymore - thats all I'm going to say!

Need some parts if anyone can help[?]:
Wheel hup grease caps, front bumper, gas/electric fridge/rear bumpers/COMMER letters.New windscreen rubber - any ideas???

Last job to do is convert the beast to LPG (I'm going to be doing 1000's of miles!)

Brilliant, I love this van and can't wait to see the new look [8D]
There has been plenty of talk about windscreen seals lately, try the search button at the top right of the page, it should bring up some info from previous threads. There are a few bits and bobs lying in members garages so I'm sure you'll get a few replies on the other stuff. Great to hear from you and welcome to the madhouse :D

Delighted to hear from you and keep up the news with the van (not an easy van to keep up with on the road[:0]) - can't wait to see the new look. Will also be interesting to find out how you get on with LPG.

Good luck with parts hunt:)

hello! welcome aboard!
Do we have another Scottish Commer then? that makes 3 now I think - we can start having our own meets!

The Scottish Rootes show is on at the end of June so you'll probably be able to get some of the stuff you need there (I'll be there too! - not sure if I'll be in the show or in the carpark)

some info here

Picked it up from the painters this last weekend - looking good!! Here we go with the LPG conversion!

I had a Bedford CA with the same V6 conversion - I converted that to LPG - ran great and at a fraction of the cost! Anyone wants advise, I'll gladly help out:D. Anyone got any of the parts I need - I also need a door check strap now as the painter lost one!

might have a pair of rear bumpers - don't think I promised them to anyone else :D

PICTURES!!!! :):)

did you do the conversion yourself ? if so where did you buy bits and can you then use the gas tank to power the fridge and hob? my thoughts are that the camper already has a gas tank so why not combine ?

Yes, I did the LPG conversion myself on the Bedford. Picked up the parts on ebay, autojumbles. Generally a conversion will cost about £150 using a mix of new parts (hose, olives etc) and 2nd hand parts - vaporisers, mixers, solenoids and tanks.
There are tanks available with a top take off to run the appliances. I think you can buy them from http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/ bit expensive though.

On the V6, I’m putting two under slung “torpedo” tanks that’ll give 72 litres and a 70 litre “doughnut” under the rear seat. Should give me a useable 110 litres which will give good range – 400 miles between fill-ups. If I can get some time, I’ll take some photo’s of the installation. :D

Did you manage to take some photoes of the LPG convertion

I am interested in doing an lpg convertion

Dora and Gloria

I've looked at the Tinley website with interest and would like to know if nayone has practical experienece of fitting one of these to a Commer or similar.

Is it as straight forward to convert to LPG as they describe? How readily available is LPG these days, I've seen it about but woner hoe practical it is to actually get it. I presume you leave the petrol system in place and can switch between the two if necessary??

Are you thinking along similar lines Rupert?? If so do you want to look into this together...

Any experineces would be welcomed...

Cheers
