yeah, but Mark, there isn't much metal left in Dolly.......best dig a big hole in the ground and bury a metal pole at least 2'' in the ground then use that pole as the earth point:D[}:)]:D

also tried to remove my fuel sender but the screws are pretty messed up so i thought the best plan was to wait til i have the tank out:) and spent half hour trying to figure out why she is running lumpy

yeah it seems to be m8. they look like old style points but that would seem to be an electronic ignition module wouldnt it?

TAC stands for Transistor Assisted Contact ingnition, it's a spark booster and is supposed to reduce wear on the face of the points, A period performance mod:D

hmm, just read that info john:), it seems that it is an add on box that is meant to run with the old points at a lower current to avoid pitting;). further down the page the guy mentions that after not being used for a few months the car started to run a bit rough (like dolly) apparently he went back to plain points and it runs alot better, it seems i need electronic ignition after all[B)] oh well, at least i will know its all new.:D i figured out that dolly seems to be running on 3 cylinders, took the lead off the back plug why running and made no diff, so i changed the plug and tried switching the leads with one of the others (other 3 were fine) still no diff, so im guessing it got to be the cap or rotor arm needs changing.

Did you change the lead for a spare, you may have just been transfering the fault to another cylinder by swapping the leads round.

no i swapped the lead from the faulty 1st cyclinder with the one from the working second cyclinder. but the problem stayed the same, the 1st still didnt fire but the second kept working fine with no 1's lead however the cap looked very worn when i cleaned it and i had to scrape the crap and corrosion off the terminals the cap and rotor arm look very old
