Got a few questions about the new headlights at the Spring meet. So here are the details if anyone is interested.
I found that the standard sealed beam units are not very bright. So I changed them to halogens. But then they didnt look right as too modern as you could see the bulb. So changed them again to P700 types with the tribar. And added a pair of eyelids for good measure. As they also incorporate a sidelight facility when the van is repainted I may also do away with the sidelights and just have the indicators for a smoother look.

How much and where from for the headlights?
Percy has got Halogen headlights but one has got a tide mark from water in one of them and could do with a change

Got my speedo cable back from Speedy Cables
They took 2 weeks and charged £43.59, which was somewhat more than their estimate in terms of both time & money....

I'm wanting to setup a similar intake for my standard carb (without the filter fan), so I'm curious what you used for the ducting and tips on how you finally routed/installed it all.
BTW : I'll also be changing the exhaust to cope better too !

Can I pick up on some things said earlier in this thread?
I have both the original belt driven fan and also an electric fan(fitted to the front of my radiator). I have always been suprised that the temp control hardly ever goes past the lower temp red section (left hand side of the dial face), even when climbing long gradients. Having read this thread I am think of unbolting the belt driven fan from it's pulley and leaving the cooling up to the thermostactically controlled electric one.
Should the temp reading normally be higher than I am getting and if this "is" the case should my fuel economy also improve (warmer engine and all that)?
Any thoughts welcomed.

yes, a hotter running engine will use less fuel(at the expense of power)it could be that you have the wrong temp sender fitted, giving a low reading. but assuming its correct then take the mechanical fan off and give it a try good luck

But much more than this is that you will liberate power that was wasted driving the mechanical fan - 3 extra horses for free on my motor.

Basically I wanted a freeflow exhaust for the open road (there's one left in London), but I also wanted a quiet exhaust as I didnt want to annoy the neighbours too much. Now at the flick of a switch I have either. Sorry to sound smug [8D] but I am quite please with this mod
