Greg, is yours a late van?
Frodo is dodge badged, but not spacevan. i am wondering if there was a change on the last few years vans.

Having a look around, it appears a couple of cars were fitted with a similar looking Lockheed cylinder, such as the MGB.

Have a look at this link, and see if you think its the same:

Chas, is there a part no. on the cylinder that you could cross reference [?]

"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

Ours is a 67 PB.

Whilst the 2 seals and boot look similar to the MGB, they may not be exactly the same. Also the boot end of the piston looks different, according to P.Olyslagger manual.

At the time I thought maybe ours had been re-bored and fitted with oversized seals, if such a service was ever available. But with you having a simlar problem, maybe someone else will come along with the answer.

Unfortunately its a bit corroded, and double stamped. I spent my lunchbreak trying to decipher it.

Looks like L15H4FX - but the F is above and 45 deg out of line

I can also make out CP 261 and G00 on the other side, so am about to find out what google has to say!

Haha! I've done so much searching, that if you google 'commer pb "clutch master cylinder"' then Frodo comes up on the first page of the images!

Slightly different, mine's got a banjo connection for the outlet pipe.

Summer's Coming

I'll check the id of the cylinder at work tomorrow, there's a guy on the internet who says he can find a repair kit for it!

Greg, I had another look and a play this morning. Although the primary cup is smaller than the original, once it is installed on the piston, it expands enough to create an airtight seal in the cylinder. I'm not sure if it is strong enough, but I am going to give it a go at the weekend anyway.....

Sounds promising and not wishing to alarm further but we fitted these new seals and after bleeding we had a fully operating clutch action. Fine we thought.

Problem was fluid loss through the boot over time. Hoping the seals would settle in we put up with it until having used another 250ml tin in regular top ups we changed back to the old seals and virtually havent topped up since.

Dont think we did anything wrong so I am suspecting maybe a re-bore in our case but I have to dismantle it again to proove it.

I don't think so, unless mine has been rebored as well....

Well, I went up today, reinstalled everything, filled and bled the system, and there is pressure there, but the clutch plate is not disengaging. Pretty much at a loss as to what to do yet.

The Slave cylinder is mounted on the correct (nearest) side, but it still feels like the travel of the cylinder is not long enough to disengage the clutch plate. The cylinder is almost at the end of its travel before the thrust bearing comes together. Tomorrow I might stick some shims in the extend the range of the cylinder, but if that doesnt help, then I am at a loss.
