the valves have had anti-reversion grooves machined in, and i waisted the stems and put a 60 degree backcut on the inlet seats for better flow :p
the red thing is a short ram pipe of the correct shape to give an extra 6.7% airflow. just need to sort a suitable k&n filter :p
and the finished head, skimmed .079" (2.02mm) :p:p
getting close now [8D]

its nearly ready :p
had to give the bodywork some ball pain in the filter area, and make the filter endplates, the shed yeilded some 7075 t6 aircraft alloy [8D]
just need to make a cable bracket, attach the exhaust, change the oil and test run :p;)

How cool is that :p:p:p The Mini abutment plate makes it so much easier to sort out the cables.
I tried unsuccessfully to get Harvey running this evening[V] A good spark and there's fresh petrol fed from a can but all I got was a few bangs from the exhaust and a little bit of burbling. Got the battery on charge and will have another go in about half an hour - the neighbours love me really:)

i begrudge paying £25 for a piece of sheet metal with 5 holes [V] so i will make a nice stainless bracket :p
sure you have it timed right and the HT leads on the right cylinders [?]

You can get them cheaper - I got mine for a tenner with two gaskets and the clip for the choke cable, but you are right - I just couldn't be a***d. One thing I realised is that there isn't a vacuum take-off for the dizzy, could I use the connection that normally connects to the Mini crank case breather.
Set timing roughly by usual method and double checked the leads - I'll check again though [V]

Thats exellent Tim,a real nice job! I still have'nt got another manifold yet but hopefully will see my spares bloke at Wrotham steam rally in Kent early next month.Still trying to get Thingy ready for MOT and then the spray shop, not enough hours in the day!!!

back to my "rootes"

do you mean vacuum for the dizzy [?] if so take it from the carb, the large diameter spout is the one we are using on sybhil :)
