Betty the Commer Pizza Truck Project.

A K&N cone for a 1275 Mini is usually the filter of choice on this conversion.
Or this one, a bit cheaper than the K&N

It's a tight fit but they will go in.
TIGHT FIT! I cannot for the life of me get this fucker in! I don’t want to break it so I’m just staring at it now

I rerouted the air filter down side of the rad so it sat in front but to the side of rad. Silicon pipe and 5m waste pipe bends.

Yeah I nearly resorted to that, however I have had success after about 2 hours of faffing!

Well done. Quicker than me trying unsuccessfully to attach some pics of reroute for you. Managed to resend my message though. Clever me lol.

It’s so easy for you! Honestly this is as tight as a nuns vagina. Was an absolute nightmare but it’s in now and hopefully I won’t have to take it off for a very long time

I was being sarcastic about praising myself for failing pics lol. By the sounds of it it’ll never fall off so that’s a win :)

Tight fit? just well designed;)
To honest that is the easiest way to do it (really) I used a combination of house gutter elbows, flex pipe and a K&N element inside the (modified) air box mounted on the engine bay side panel. I tend to do things the hard way:)

Got some breather pipe coming soon so new springs going into the carb, yellow is apparently best but might need to change it so will see, then hopefuly i can get her running fairly sweet

She’s running like a dream now, new spring, filter and a little bit of tweaking !

So next is the brakes, I’m assuming the brakes on these things are just god awful. Don’t get me wrong I stop eventually but I’m guessing you just have to take it easy at the higher speeds.

I’m not planning on any crazy trips around the world but is it worth trying to fit more modern brakes to it or just whack some new front and rear shoes on?

Great news, you've done well to get it running nicely.
The brake do take some getting used to but I could virtually stand my Auto-Sleeper on its nose if braking hard. The Jennings coach built, however, was a different matter and as you've found out braking from reasonable speed took planning. I fitted a servo which improved things dramatically but it might just be the shoes, new ones use a harder material than originals so it would be worthwhile seeing if you can get hold of some new old stock items, also make sure the double acting cylinders on the front are free to move on both pistons with no leaks.
Unfortunately fitting modern (discs) brakes is no easy task and requires a lot of work to get it right.

Thanks for this I’ll make sure I get all this properly checked, next up is fitting the new door for the gas access and getting the pizza oven in. Then it’s off to the yard for welding work and any body work so will get the brakes sorted at the same time I do that! I can’t wait for her new face to be on!

Well, I have been on a journey to say the least! Shes up and running, took her down the dual carriageway to see what she was made of, hit 40mph and then she started to struggle a little, i thought at first it mightve been a big issue, so on the way back after turning around hit 40mph again and she struggled again, so i pulled out the choke and my god she flew all the way to 55mph which is more than enough and she was cruising nicely at 50mph although very loud!

I've just finished doing some work on the roof inside in the rear this week and hopefully in Feb she will be off to the bodyshop to get all her work done and new face, will obviously send lots of pictures once shes all done.

I fitted a reverse camera with carplay and it makes the world of difference being able to actually see whats behind me!

I think it will be a BDL, pretty sure that's what I've got fitted.
Yeah sorry that’s me typing like a prat, I spoke with AC Dodd and he advised the BDL and yellow spring so in it all goes and with a bit of luck it’ll drive better. Was fine until the lower gears but once I hit 40 it was desperate for fuel

Finally fitted the gas door yesterday !

So now I’ve just got to build the box for the gas to live which is sealed away from the rear work area.

Then she’ll be basically ready for her new bodywork and paint ✅
