Bazil's 1972 Commer PB

Hello everybody!
Its been a while since I was last here and unfortunately nothing has been done to the Commer
Mainly due to lack of funds, materials and time due to being busy at work again.
I did manage to find some time today to do a bit of welding and grinding and I am hoping to have the energy after work this week to try and get the welding of the roof repair finished ready to start on the peak repair.
So, as you can see, I have welded the roof repair above the rear doors, ground it all back and then smoothed it all out with filler (which wasn't flatted when the pic was taken and I have now flatted).
It's not much but it is progress again and I am hoping to get another stretch of welding done later when the sprogs are in bed.

I still have a lot of sanding and touching up with filler but so far I am very pleased with how the rear corner repair has come out.
I am hoping to get a good chunk of the passenger side welded up and ground down tomorrow....... now time for a nice brew......

Longest session of welding I have ever done today and noticed a big improvement in my welding, which certainly made grinding the welds down flush alot easier.
So the passenger side roof is all welded up (apart from above the cab and peak), it has been aquasteeled and is ready now for sanding off and some filler.
I am hoping to get the bulk of the drivers side done tomorrow or at least this week. Still have the rear corner repair to make yet though [xx(]

I have spent a little bit of time today on the front of the van as I am at a crossroads with the roof and I haven't decided which way to go yet.
So I have been cleaning the passenger side seam that runs from the windscreen down to the valance.
After plenty of wire wheeling I have discovered no rot at all and I am aquasteeling it up and giving it a coat of primer. Also, the lower valance has been replaced in the past and whoever fitted it must have been a Martin (Woolfy or Maltas) as it is so good that I can leave it there, looks like the drivers side is the same.
I think there has been a lot of repairs done to this van in the past and a lot of them are still good [8D] It means I can leave most of the fluted cills and lower half of the van pretty much alone.
Turning out to be a bargain blind purchase

Removed the front bumper, grill and license plate and apart from a small patch on the drivers side valance, there is currently no repairs to do to the front panel very pleased about that.
I will post pictures tomorrow of the front. Going to get the Windscreen out and all the lettering and lights off so I can strip the paint off and get the front primered up with Hi-Build over the weekend.
So if anyone can advise on how to remove the COMMER Letters without damaging them [?]

Thanks for all the advice so far! It has helped me to strip down the front end of the van without too much damage.
So here are the pictures of my front end:
Near mint Front Panel Seam on passenger side (Gets bad above waist line) You can just about make out that the valance has been replaced at some point and they have done a great job on it.
And here is a look at the whole front end. I think I have been pretty lucky with this, especially as I have no repairs to carry out on the heater box area Just got two short repairs on the passenger side windscreen area, a tiny bit by the starting handle hole and some patching on the drivers side valance:

The word Panky is 'WAS' I have put the angle grinder through all the welds in the picture (I wrote 'Old Picture' above it) and I have straightened out the side panel and gutter. Amateur you see [)] I never took into acccount that the original wanderer roof had sagged from all the rot and it has bugged me for ages the amount of bend that I had. So I did some fiddling [:]
I will post a new picture as soon as I have stitched it back together!

Been making good progress today. Finished welding the roof up from the cab back, gutter plug welding finished, Aquasteeled and filled ready for a bit more filler (ran out of decent light) and Primer collection tomorrow to do the whole of the roof from the gutters up and from the cab back.
