Baffled !

I've been trying to get an understanding of my '75 Commer PB 1725cc engine but the workshop manual I currently have is for the Dodge Spacevan and it seems they maybe some differences. I'm currently puzzled by the air intake setup particular re. the position of the flametrap and whether I should have a baffle.

My flametrap takes its feed from the engine side nearest the air intake without any baffle involved, inline via two short pipe connections.

In the Dodge diagrams the feed appears to come from the engine side furthest from the air intake first via a baffle, then the flametrap into a longer run of pipe to the intake.

My guess is that my '75 may have been 'modified' at some point - can anybody shed any light on this and advise what the correct spec is for '75 setup ?

Many thanks

Just checked mine and guess what, no flame trap at all. Harvey is a '71 and has the earlier air filter without the hot air diverter valve and there is a pipe going from the rocker cover straight to the air filter and I am guessing the trap should go in there somewhere. My manual shows the same set up as you described with the breather coming out of the engine side cover going through a baffle then the flame trap and then into the filter box. The page is marked up '1st Re-issue' so I guess from that you can assume it went from my set-up to the one shown in the manual. I can't see them doing multiple changes at that point in the production run.
