Back of the garage

I've only ever heard of it being done a couple of times but never actually seen an installation. I assume it consists of a coil of small bore cooper pipe, that's fed from the engine cooling system, wrapped around the heat tube on the fridge. It should give enough energy to keep things cool on the run.

i may have to look into that then, sounds a great idea, if i could get mine to run 12v, 240v and have the water setup it would be well handy :)

One I recently had in, just used rubber heater hose running from the engine, to a copper coil:)
Getting there now John, plenty of time for Moffatt;)

Looks nice Panky ;) i removed all my copper piping too, i now only have the cooker rigged up. It's funny, with all the welding i had to do i thought that once i finished it all i'd be pleased to see the back of it but quite the opposite, i sort of miss it now??? I'd say that those welds of yours came out that way due to it being cold when you did them? I welded in both summer and last winter and the difference is massive. Just had to tweak the voltage/gas flow settings ;) mines sat under Tarp now until better days!

Work has started in earnest on the near side, old outer and inner step cut out and the inner sill up to the rear jacking point is now in the bin, just a bit of cleaning up to do and the new metal can be weld in. Good new is that both jacking points and outriggers are sound except for the very end of the front jacking point - just the flanges that meet the inner sill to repair. Bad news is that Bonnie has been a naughty girl:I I had to back her off the drive for a double glazing surveyor to get to the bathroom window - would she start again, would she buggery[V] I though the petrol had finally run out so in went a gallon- still no joy. My drive is on quite a slope so maybe because I turned her around to work on the other side meant the fuel outlet was above the petrol level I thought - another gallon of fuel went in and a dribble down the carb. She fired instantly but died as the dribble was burned off. I'd disconnected the fuel line to the carb and no amount of cranking would make the pump pump[:(!]Luckily I had a old spare knocking about and after fitting it I was rewarded with gushes of petrol up me arm[^] All connected up again and after a couple of pushes of the button she fired up and ran sweetly (well as sweetly as an engine can with a blowing manifold:I) While I was rummaging around the engine checking wiring etc I noticed the cable to the starter motor was loose, when I had a closer look the nut that holds the cable on to the starter had backed off to the point it was nearly off the stud and the cable was just flopping about, amazing how it was still cranking over - all good now:)

Well the 'little bit of cleaning up' happened today in between the showers:I The bits of inner sill still attached to the floor and behind the outriggers where removed using a combination of spot-weld drilling and a hammer and chisel, boy did next door enjoy it - much slamming of doors and windows;) Ready to start fitting the new sill in now, this side seems a little worse for wear than the other so I'm using most of the new sill this time up to the rear corner rather than cutting sections out - the prep doesn't take much longer but the finished result will be worth it[^]

Nipping in and out between the showers, plenty of layers and swinging a big hammer kept me almost warm:)

At last a couple of dry days[8D] I've been busy:)
Before you start I forgot to take some pics today but I'll make up for it tomorrow - promise[8)] Any hoose it's virtually a mirror image of the other side, a new section to replace the raggedy edge of the wheel arch was made and welded in, inner step fitted, gobby end of jacking point repaired. The outer step was trial fitted and it goes on nice and snug[^] One thing I did differently on this side is the return on the lower edge of the wheel arch - where it meets the outer step panel, for some strange reason I bent it the wrong way on the other side so inner step, outer step and wheel arch returns all go the same way it doesn't look right but it's on now and it's out of the way:I. This side looks much better with the panels meeting as they should. If the weather holds up the step will be going on tomorrow then onto the rest of the inner sill:)
