Back of the garage

I'll have to give him a good clean and see if I can tweak him a bit[8D]

Some final fettling and tittivating today in preparation for the roadrun tomorrow, Harveys first outing since the re-build[8D] Out came the assorted tools, rags and other stuff I'd left in there and a good wash and brush up inside had him looking spick and span. Off to the petrol station to top up and.............running like sh**e[V] I manage to nurse him home popping and banging and after a sulk I started the investigation. Took the spark plugs out and everything looked fine until N04 came out - all carboned up and no way would it have sparked, it was just a plug[xx(] I had a look at the lead and the insulation was split under the cap so I nicked one off the Mini and put everything back. Vrrrroooooom he burst into life and sounded much better[^] Just in time as Martin M had just arived and was standing behind me waiting for his spin in Harvey. We whizzed off up the road and after a couple of coughs to clear his lungs he was away (Harvey not Martin:I) He's pulling really well and I think Martin was a bit impressed by the 'performance' when he had his go[^]
Martin just happened to be in the area and dropped of a nice little improvement for Bonnie - a propper Commer overdrive box, complete with crossmember - no more messing about swapping shafts on an Arrows box:D

Very nice Harvey is, too. Much livelier than a standard Commer :p Wishing I hadn't just sold that Holbay and o/d box [}:)]

Treated Harvey to new brake shoes all round today in preparation for Pandy, all them hills:I The backs were on the limit of adjustment and were almost down to the rivets, they're dead easy to do. The fronts, although there was plenty of meat on the pads, had some rather alarming cracks in the linings so it was a good job I decided to changed them. They had been on Harvey a long time and I suspect the work they had to do last year on the hills of Pandy and Moffat didn't do them any favours:I One thing I noticed was that one side were the wrong way round so the leading shoe wasn't leading, I must have got them mixed up when I renewed the handbrake cable[8)] - the brakes were as good as you would get on a Commer, he pulled up nice and straight, and it didn't stop him passing two MOT's[?]
