As far as the wiring goes, the relay can be tested on the bench with a battery, Can't remember where to connect what but it should give a good clunk when its live. As far as I remember one of hte outputs on my (second hand) relay failed, but there were two so I just doubled up one of the connectors. Also I don't think it worked very well when I first starting playing with it but after using it a few times it got better (that never happens!)
Don't get too excited and rush things - we don't want any accidents! I found loads of screws I had forgotten to tighten properly on Molly when I was getting her ready for the MOT. Like the gear lever for example:I
