Back of the garage

I was contemplating putting some louvres in the front panel of the wasps nest but my fabrication skills are such that there is a 1/4" gap at the back of the cowl ( built in for ventilation of course :I) and I plan to run a ducting from in front of the engine to blow onto the air filter to give a bit of fresh air. There is plenty of room around the filter to draw air from the engine compartment but it would be nice to supply a bit of cool stuff[8D]

It wasn't just me thinking this then :I:D bet Harvey'll have tears in his eyes if you hit it with 2lb hammer [:0]

Maybe to fit fresh air tubing vented from the front of the van to the carb mouth might be an idea John?..

Soon be on the road eh! [8D]

It's on the list - I've got some old Hoover flex stashed just for that purpose:)

looking good Mr Panky, when are you hoping to be on the road? You must be getting pretty excited:D

(by the way Cazz said u a cheeky sod) lol she pretends to be embarrassed but she loves it really lol

Cheeky - me [:0] I surely don't know what you are talking about[}:)]

I've hit one of those lulls - so many little jobs left to do just don't know where to start, I'll make a list and take it from the top.

Couldn't help but chuckle:D Do you want to see Bluebells list/ lol

Must feel so great though, the amount you have done[?]

Cazz has given us a deadline of making it to Glasters with both vans next year[:0]

Hopefully you've all picked yourselves up off the floor after after laughing at my cod piece and are ready for my next masterpiece :I

Harvey, like many of his kind, is in need of a rhinoplasty. What to do - bodge it up and blank off the heater intake or have a go at doing a 'proper' job. I decided try and fix it and gave Harvey some attention with a disc cutter [:0]

The heater box is held in with half a dozen screws around the opening and two bolts inside the cab - there was no way the screws were going to shift so the lot had to come out in one.

Grott abounds, no wonder water was getting into the cab. A lesson to us all - squeeze your bulbous end on a regular basis:I

Four bolts to remove to separate the fan/matrix assembly from the air inlet box

To reveal the full extent of the damage

A kit of parts - a couple of pop rivets held what was left of the closing flaps hinge in place.

A bit of fabbing and welding.

I'm thinking that it is going to be very difficult to seal the complex joint around the drain properly, so I'll coat the inside with a sealant to plug all the holes in my repair. It could be possible to turn the whole thing upside, down so the original and intact top of the air box forms the basis for a new drain, I would need to re-position the fixing brackets, flap hinges and hole for the operating rod - but it would look a neater job...hmmmm (thinks :))

Good Evening:)

I suspect Smurfs probably looks a bit like that!

I have secured with lots of sealant a piece of clear perspex behind the grill panel....for now!

Q, on Bluebell, I know how the heater comes out but how does the actual grill come off?? On Smurf there are 4 screws visible on the corners outside the van

I may be wrong but I think it just prizes off - I think there are spring clips on little pegs that stick through into the body,

Cheers for all the great pics Panky, I'll be having to do a similar repair myself so good to be able to learn from others. My front panel is more scabby than yours, but I'm hoping that there aren't too many nasty surprises [:0] Good to see you're doing a proper repair - persevere with it!

Is the rubber drain tube meant to be squeezed to release the water?? Never really thought about it!
