Back of the garage

Wish I had followed suit!! the footy was carp!! Still' every cloud has a silver lining lol, This means my boss is off 4 two weeks PLUS now she has the HUMP aswll Muhahahahahahaha!..............she is a Manc through & through :D:D:D

My boss is the same, and my sons. I support the team in blue that should have been playing them in the final, not that I'm as passionate about it as she is! It's only a game.

lucky you had rootes service tool no. 764896534677325-x :)
keep going panky ;)

I've never changed a core plug, but aren't they slightly domed and need smacking in the middle to allow them to expand tightly in the hole?? I expect you'll be fine the way you've done it.

I did an engine swap recently and had a similar prob so might be worth checking. I lost the coil feed and for the life of me couldn't find it. After loads of head scratching I found the the original wire insulation had become brittle from age and oil contamination and snapped off just under the loom sleeving. A new solder joint had that prob sorted, but the air was blue that weekend!

Of course i am the BOSS Panky, i just let Colin think that he is lol :D

Nice work Panky, keep it up!!!!

Everyone is going to hang flags from their Commers in celebration when Harvey is finished [8D]

Cazz... student commerade!!!!

Sounds exactly like the kind of thing that would happen to me:I
I think there are a couple of types of core plug - discs as you mention - but the Commer variety are the cup type, the sides of the 'cup' are slightly tapered so as you drive it in it tightens itself in the bore.
Any chance of someone posting a pic of the coil and wiring for me - I'm at a loss to remember how it was set up - simple I know but it's got to be right. Does the earth lead have a suppressor in it of is it just a straight piece of wire - I just don't know[V] Help please.

coil just needs a power feed from the switch to the + terminal, and - to the dizzy :)

Methinks I know why I burned the dizzy wiring out :I
Maybe I shouldn't have connected the live wire to the connection on the dizzy [8)]
So that's where it went.

there,s another top tip in there, the wire from the coil to the dizzy should always be the same polarity as the vehicle earth ;)
might explain your problem panky :I

How do you tell the difference between the 45D and the 25D again :I

Has the 25 got longer cap clips.

Tim said "Thats only the price of 3 sets of points wouldn't mind one myself, well worth ago for that money"
25d has the long clips.

I have one of these - I actually bought the whole new dizzy with one of these fitted - very shiney and quite good value i thought.

Initially very impressed - new dizzy makes a real difference for a nice smooth idle.
Then it stopped working. Contacted SimonBBC (ebay name) and website - http://simonbbc.com/automotiveshop/

he seemed to think it must be my fault and that i must have a ballast coil that had fried the module. Eventually he 'kindly' sold me a replacement module (that looked secondhand) for £1.50 less than the ebay price.

I have now fitted it - and changed the coil (though i'm sure it wasn't a ballast one) - and fingers all crossed is still working fine after a couple hundred miles.

In hindsight the aldon ignitor (didn't someone put a link to how to get em cheap up last year?) might have been a better bet.

but whatho - i'll let you know if it fails again.

I know the ones we supply are not cheap (£148 complete new electronic dizzy), but they have a 100% success rate ;)

Ihave an aldon ignitor and so far it is brilliant, totally transformed the running of my van.
Better economy, better idle and acceleration.A bit pricy but well worth it in the long run.

back to my "rootes"

the aldon is very good for sure :) but you could buy 4 of these for the same money, so got to be worth a try ;)
