Ouch! I suspect we have all had a few near misses, but that sounds a bit too near. Thank you for sharing it with us, I have certainly learnt a few lessons from reading these pages, although hair is not one of my problems, just a memory.

I hope this has not dampened your enthusiasm, I have been following your thread with interest.

'It's not a proper slider'

Hair memory LOL:) I'm clinging on to what nature will inevitably take away - enthusiasm not dampened just pride dented(and head sore) and the realisation that we are vulnerable despite good intent[8)]
Apologies for lack of Harvey progress - just a lull - I promise:I

Glad you are on the mend!!

Shhh!! someone walking past last night told us of a Commer. We went & knocked on the door today to be greeted by a little old lady who was ina rush to go out. we left our number with her as she may want to sellit to a good home. Its being used as astorage shed at mo! She has owned it since 197[?]....so the wait for a call begins lol

It's a coachbuilt on an L reg, been Sorn since 05, 40,000 on clock since new....now I just have to keep Cazz calm and occupied lol We off on hols Saturday with a few minor changes to Smurf and her new trailer so lots of pics when we return............and an update of Harvey to look forward to:D

There might be one or two - but I wouldn't cut short your holiday to find out - there is such a thing as an internet cafe ;)
Any idea what conversion the van is - I won't tell anyone :I

Internet cafe[?] can't eat computers lol I have a palm top but I have promised to leave it at home to totally avoid work. In the past I have told people to ring me if urgent and I get called for the most pathetic reasons lol

I really cant remember but CI Autohome rings a bell, really not sure though. I paid more attention to all the junk piled up inside lol It was a job to see prperly coz was tight to garage door at the front and hemmed in with rusty Ford Fiesta's behind it.

The lady knows a guy that we have met recently who used to work in a small camper conversion business. we showed him Smurf and he said that up untill about 5 years ago he still had loads of spares and interior patterns for building the cupboards etc. He also used to have a mould for making the fibreglass hightop as fitted to Smurf. He was very knowledgeable. It was quite sad really, he was saying that once he 'goes' there won't be many living people to tell the tale, just books and handed down info

His son has an 05 plate Renault traffic master he bought brand new to convert into a camper....its amazing, but only half finished, it has 10 yes TEN miles on the clock[:0][:0]

hope the lost tufts are re-sprouting - being somewhat hairy myself your recent adventures are something of a nightmare [:0] - Glyns' nephew lost a chunk of forehead the same way last year - big ouches all round - am so glad you're relatively unscathed [:X]

Bessie - four star commerdation

Wounds have healed now but pride is slow to recover - fringe is starting emerging once more, it'll take a while to catch up with the rest.

Been playing with exhaust today and collected a few bits to see what I can come up with - as usual I've gone a bit OTT :I

I don't think I'll use all of this.

After much fitting, faffing, tacking and more fitting and faffing the first bit done. It bears very little resemblance to the original twin downpipe but I used as much of the original tubes as possible. I got the 'Y' piece from an autojumble last week and the rest of the stuff from a local suppliers - the silencers come from a Fiat and a Seat apparently but I got them because they look right.

More of the same tomorrow :I

'Harvey the RV'

its the krypton factor [:0] please dont use those silencers unless they pass the golf ball test panky, or you will undo all the good work :I

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

Don't worry Tim they are as straight through as a straight through thing on straight though day - 2" bore:I
I've learned a lot from you even if I do put my own slant on things;)

1 1/2" into 1 3/4" into 2" - but there a a couple of bends as I'm following (almost) the original exhaust rout to keep it up high.
