Back of the garage

This was the shelf in Harvey that had a roll out bunk, which we never used, so I decided to put it to better use.

Once the bunk was removed (half a dozen set screws hidden behind the front trim on the shelf) I set about repurposing it for additional storage.
First I made another shelf as high as the folded pop-top would allow

Then I set about making some cupboard space

First coat of stain. I used the same stuff I got for Ted the travellers timber frame. Sikkens light oak.

And after a couple more coats and the addition of matching handles I was quite pleased with the final result

Goes well with the rest of the refreshed interior with just enough fake patina to make it look almost original - well that's my excuse for my dodgy woodworking skills :)

Soon the rest of Harvey's rebirth will be revealed;)

At least four cases but I'm not going to put a chiller unit in there so the cool box will have to do. There's the weight to consider too, the van would be top heavy with all that beer up there  So I guess the red wine and whisky will live up there;)

That's easily solved. You can counter the weight by making more storage underneath (maybe some drain pipes between front and rear axles) and filling it with an equal number of beer cans.

It's been a week short of two years since I started on Harveys little refresh, it's the last few months refitting all the stuff that was taken off and I actually found everything - mostly
Here he is after a cut and polish on his new suit of clothes resplendent in BMC smoke grey:p

He's not been out in the wild yet so some decent pics to follow

A quick reminder of how he looked before, a bit tired:(

This is for you Paul - it's filthy ;)

Another job crossed off the list, the pop-top lining.

The old flock lining was pretty disgusting and peeling in places:(

I'd bonded in some tapered support spars at this point

All painted and some guide wedges fitted to aid the sides sliding into place, the mini Tudor mansion makeover is complete:p

Very happy with that, lovely and bright inside now:)
To finish off the interior I fitted a new steering wheel cover, the red handlebar tape didn't do it for me

I'm struggling to find anything else to do now:)
