I'm on a roll:)
Started off by cutting the bit I needed of the passenger side repair panel, as the rest of the frame was fine on that side, and tacked it in place.

Then spot welded a support plate to the back of the repair panel on the other side and attached the new lower frame using self tappers.

I punched a series of holes every few inches in the bottom flange of the lower frame then marked and drilled the matching flange on the top of the front panel. There was just enough room to get a screwdriver in to tighten them up and pull the two panels together[^]

Using a thin disc cutter the other end was mated up and joined together using a backing plated and self tappers again

I was a bit worried, as the new panel was a very tight fit, but I needn't have - everything pulled together perfectly so it was tacked in place.

After dressing up the welds a quick coat of primer was sprayed into the joint.

I'll spray some body colour into the joint as well before it's given a fillet of seam sealer. Just the edge of the dash top where it meets the frame to do then start tidying it up and paint:)
I even offered the screen up to the frame - it follows the curves perfectly[^]

It is, sculpting with metal;)- and having decent bits to work with. Nothing to loose really, either live with rust and filler or get stuck in. It's the finishing off I'm crap at, maybe this time:I

That's a thought, I've still got that textured roller I used on the bathroom ceiling (and the Mini:I) somewhere:)
Not Perspex just a sheet of metal as the the flap on the air intake had fallen to bits[xx(] The heater works fine just re-circulating the air.

Just a couple of pics of the repair to the dash top edge to frame repair, doesn't look much but it was an awkward little sod:I

Also renewed a bit of the peak gutter

Colour change, it will show the different coloured primer when it's rubbed down and any low points will stay red:)

Slowly but surely getting all the little bits done:)

The edge of the front panel was a little frilly, the rust dropped out when I was cleaning the paint off:I

2014-03-07120220.jpg

A small section of gutter was shot as well so a bit of trimming required

2014-03-07122325.jpg

And a repair section fabbed up for the gutter

2014-03-07130830.jpg

Then the panel edge was repaired, welds dressed up and primed

A little skim of filler should hide the bumps:I
