Back of the garage

Harvey's flooring was looking a bit jaded (and I was sick of people saying it was the same stuff in their bathrooms:I) so I decided to go old skool and do the chequer board thing[8D]
I'd been hunting around for ages and decent tiles where very expensive until I came across a guy on ebay who was winding up his business and selling them off cheap - £10 a box of fifty 12" tiles cheap:p The postage doubled the price but they were still about a third of the normal price even with that - and he split a box between the blue and white:) I made myself a jig up and cut them down into 6" squares

I was very please but they made poor old Harvey's cabinets look rather shabby, so off came the doors and drawers for a good sanding down then a liberal dose of Danish oil:p

Just need a finishing strip to tidy the back step up now.
I was that pleased with them that Bonnies old carpet has now been replaced with a nice period looking set of the same kind of tile in a cream with brown fleck:)

If anyone wants any of the tiles here's the ebay link, not sure if he's got any left:I

It must have been subliminably imprinted on my brain;)
He didn't have red:I but the blue goes nicely with the seats I think and you can see what it will look like when Pia's finished[}:)]

:D It looks great mate. I'm on the lookout for those Leatherette cushions in Blue if you know of any going ;) Pia is progressing and i cannot wait to get out in it. Been sooooo long. Be good to see everbody again too.

It's been a while since I did any bodywork on Harvey and the bubbling on the screen pillar was annoying me so I thought it was about time I did something about it rather than slap a bit more filler in[8)] It didn't look too bad so I ordered a repair section and new screen rubber off Martin - Bernie came round to give me a hand to get the screen out:)

Innocent looking enough

The valence isn't to clever either so that's getting done too:) Easy in comparison to the screen surround:I

At least you have Bonny (Bonnie/Bonney?) for Pandy.

I am not a person, I am a number, 395 actually......Be seeing you!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Bonnie will be ready but so will Harvey:) I think I've found most of the hidden horrors in that area - wish I hadn't said that:I But at least I'll be working in the garage under cover[^]

Been doing a bit of prep in anticipation of the new panels arriving:)

Don't look Harvey:I

Off came the lower widscreen frame and the dash top trimmed back

Most of the lip on the top of the front panel is fine

2014-02-19160324.jpg

But some repairs needed at the ends

Next job is to take the wiper motor and mechanism out to do a small repair to the top of the screen frame then new metal will be going in:)

Been spending a couple of hours most days chopping and grinding and generally annoying the neighbours[}:)] and the last few days I've actually been putting some metal back in:)

A couple of small repairs needed at the top of the frame

There was a similar one needed on the other side which I made a complete hash of so had to re-do it:I but it looks the same as this one now:)

Spent some time stripping the cracked and crazed paint off the upper front panel. A few dents and dings appeared - one of which was caused by my knee when I was putting the roof rack on:I

2014-02-24161618.jpg

A few small perforations in the inner frame were sorted out before I started using the panels Martin supplied. The new gutter section was plug welded on

2014-03-03124134.jpg

Then, after dressing the welds up, and applying a coat of weld-through primer, the outer repair panel was stuck on over it

It's a right fiddly job but ultimately satisfying:)
Next bit is the lower frame - that should be fun:D
