Harvey's flooring was looking a bit jaded (and I was sick of people saying it was the same stuff in their bathrooms:I) so I decided to go old skool and do the chequer board thing[8D]
I'd been hunting around for ages and decent tiles where very expensive until I came across a guy on ebay who was winding up his business and selling them off cheap - £10 a box of fifty 12" tiles cheap
The postage doubled the price but they were still about a third of the normal price even with that - and he split a box between the blue and white
I made myself a jig up and cut them down into 6" squares
I was very please but they made poor old Harvey's cabinets look rather shabby, so off came the doors and drawers for a good sanding down then a liberal dose of Danish oil
The finished article as seen at Tatton
Just need a finishing strip to tidy the back step up now.
I was that pleased with them that Bonnies old carpet has now been replaced with a nice period looking set of the same kind of tile in a cream with brown fleck
If anyone wants any of the tiles here's the ebay link, not sure if he's got any left:I
