I tried Mark but Heidi beat me to it

I did feel a bit bloated after the Saturday session though:I

The locals are very friendly but tend to peck your toes if you get to close.

It was very wet on friday evening and many gathered under the shelter of our awning, it got a bit full so a certain bit of ingenuity was required to keep out of the rain when all the brollies were taken
[/IMG]
Saturday night was even busier and the next morning we counted ten chairs left under our shelter - it's only 8X6 so you can imagine it was a bit snug, the unlucky ones were sat under the parts of the old canvas that unfortunately leaked a bit - but that didn't dampen the spirits and we had a great time[^]
We stayed on over Monday night with Bernie and Heidi who had to leave on Tuesday morning to go off and earn a living. We left The Rising Sun at the same time as them and set off for a campsite that Nancy had told us about, about seven miles away up a narrow and twisty back road we found it - but it was full[V] so the back up plan was activated and we returned to the Rising Sun and stayed another night.
We waited and waited but no one came back[8)]

We got a bit scared as it looked like aliens had landed[:0]

We experimented with the layout of the bed and found that we actually had one bigger than a king size[:0]
Six foot wide and over seven foot long - a bit of a ridge where the front bench meets the rear section but for all you six foot sixers out there, with a little bit of adjustment you can sleep in comfort[^]

On Wednesday we decided to head for the west coast and set off in blazing sunshine, the route would take us through Builth Wells and eventually end up in Aberystwyth, after a wrong turn we ended up going through Llandrindod Wells but it was worth the extra few miles as we passed by the old Rootes garage that is now a second hand shop - the names of the various marques are still there on the facade of the building - Humber, Singer, Hillman, Commer but not a classic in site, we couldn't stop for a photo oportunity as the traffic is pretty heavy in that part of town so we had to move on[V]
We passed through Aberystwyth and headed up the coast in search of a campsite and when grabbing a quick top up with petrol I asked the guy if he knew of any and on his advise we found a C&C club site just before Machynlleth on the A487. It was pleasant enough but not too good to tempt us to stay more than the one night, Barb did rustle up a camping corned beef hash though which was an excellent change from BBQ'd grub

.
We had always wanted to camp at Shell Island so that was our next port of call, Harvey laid some rubber along the A493 through Aberdyfi,Tywyn and Fairbourne - what a road that is, highly recommended to the Imp and Mini owners but Harvey enjoyed it too[8D]. The roads became a little tamer and our speeds increased as we pressed on through Barmouth and on up the A496. An old stop off point of ours was Maes Artro - a craft village that occupied an old army base in Llanbedr, just before the Shell Island turn off, so it was decided to call in and have a spot of lunch before we crossed the causeway. Unfortunately it has now been turned into the trendy Maes Apartements so lunch had to wait[V] We booked in at the Shell Island reception, £12.50 for the night was reasonable and we could pitch up wherever we wanted. It was very windy so we found a sheltered spot and set up camp - vans and campers need to have a tent for sleeping purposes so we put up the awning and chucked a cushion in there

It got a bit overcast and rainy the next day:I
[/IMG]
After a restless night (sounded like a fox was nosing through the bin bag) it was time to pack up and head for home[V] We made good time and arrived back at ours around 3 o'clock, we stopped off for a cuppa and a comfort break at a pull-in near Bala where Barb snapped this
I wonder what lays beyond this little door[}

A huge thanks to Barry and Andy for setting the scene for a brilliant week for us and for every one else who mushed up the ground in the awning - just sorry we couldn't get round to spending more time with every one else but there's always next time[^]
A few more pics of the weekend to finish off
Harvey and Gladys are officially an item

When we got back from th Big Pit run there was a guy from Oxford Diecast who had been waiting all day, he took loads of pictures of Gladys, and when they went on there mercy mission to Bristol airport, spent well over an hour and a half measuring every inch of Harvey, and taking even more pics, with a view to producing a series of models of our vans (when I say ours I don't just mean H&G) - the result will be Harvey and Glady's love child[^]
