Alert - ebay fingers at the ready

many thanks to you all he wants 1600 for it i think a bit high and can i say a big thanks to martin to give up his free time to show me what to look for in these wonderfull vans that i think have more looks than the vw and it great to be here

[:0] hi all we did see thomas but no deal done!!! it needs to be towed away now and the gears linkage make it impossiable to drive. he did say all the rust had been fixed since photos from steve but in fact it been left to get worse and badly welded and filled it has only been used for two weeks in the last year and he looking for £16oo for it X and we wish him well

OMG![:0] what is it with some of these Commer owners? or is there something about Commers i am not aware of? did they use real diamonds as nuts and bolts?? Commers are NOT VW'S nor do they fetch VW prices, so please stop trying to push the price up as you will only fail and eventually end up with a pile of rust on your drive! [:X]

Its because they secretly love them so much and don't truthfully, deep down, want to part with them lol... I personally think they should be worth a lot more just cos i love them so much :D

Cazz... student commerade!!!!

I don't think £1600 is anywhere near VW prices? £1600 would probably buy you 4 wheels and that's about it!

if its a goodish commer i don't think £1600 is too bad at all. Your right Comm Don, i have yet to see a vw for that price

Cazz... student commerade!!!!

Hello all, another one new here and looking for a commer. I have been following developements with Thomas. Can anyone give me an idea how much of an issue the gear linkage problem is?

Welcome to the madhouse :D[}:)]:D
Presuming it is the linkage should be possible to find some one who can successfully re-arrange it :D
they need to understand how linkages work, may take a day or 2 to sort out maybe less maybe more I don't think you will know untill it is undertaken, but you are in the right place to get help & support should you decide to give Thomas a loving new home he deserves, he sounds like a good solid van with the normal body work required go on you know you want too :D[}:)]:Dps I would [}:)] just be prepared for the worst then you won't be dissapointed [8D]

Welcome aboard Rob:)

What a Commer is worth is in the eyes of oneself!

We paid £2300 for Smurf fully restored for us because we would rather do that and just play around with the interior etc

Now though through realizing the friendliness and support on here we have just bought a 2nd Commer (Bluebell) that is a complete restoration project for a couple of hundred quid:D

I guess its just about deciding what is right for you:D

well i drove thomas and i am a driver for a living and the gear linkage is all over the place we got stuck up a hill and could not find any gear at all i would of love to buy thomas but the work was just out of our price buget all the gutter was rusted away there was two rust holes each side in the middle of the van.. doors dont open. above the window screen its started to rust but with the right love and money thomas can be a stunner i know its the women that is wearing the trousers when it comes to selling thomas as she the one he as to ask when you are putting a price in for it... plus it needs a radiator
