So, I drove Frodo back to the barn on Friday, and everything was good, but I thought the engine sounded a bit "sucky" when you depressed the accelerator. On Saturday, a check showed that the tube from the carb to the vacuum advance had melted, so I stuck a new tube on. Frodo sounded great for about 2 minutes and then developed a splutter and kept stalling.
I had a play around with various things - checked for snakeskin, twisted the distributor to adjust the timing, put my hand over the air intake to clear any blockages etc - but I couldn't get rid of it. Driving him around the farm, there was no power, spluttering, stalling, and NOW white smoke is appearing in the exhaust...
Anyone got any ideas? After all we have been through, I thought we would now be ok, but the Gods of Commering have not chosen to smile on us [xx(]
