They look like the Michelin ones I've got, £20 a pair, but it means I have complete confidence in them.

I love all 4 wheeled vehicles, irrespective of age, (apart from Mondeos and Focus').

Spoke to Woolfy last night, Hunny's coming along nicely and she'll now be resprayed and ready in time for the Commerfest [8D][8D]. Once I get the next set of pics from Woolfy I will post them after the weekend.

Called into drop off the Commer sump and front plate (thanks Martin) at the garage rebuilding our Holbay. All very exciting to see it assembled on a stand and repainted in the original block colour too :p It's not far from final completion now - Holbay-tastic [8D]

Thanks Chris.

Latest update on Hunny's progress.

A big thanks to Rupert for the parts to convert our Hunter GLS gearbox to fit the Commer, these are now with our rebuilders. All our mechnicals comming along very nicely now.

I'm really hoping that a Weber DGV carb on a Solex manifold will fit under the Commer lid without too much hassle :p Such a setup is exciting the Sunbeam Alpine owners, who've recently found up an original Rootes commissioned custom manifold for the DGV which got dropped due for 'marketing reasons' in favour of the twin 40s on the Holbay engine (check out the full story of this manifold at http://alpine.forumup.com/viewtopic.php?t=1039&highlight=weber&mforum=alpine)

A tasty MK4 Vogue/SuperMinx exhaust manifold now sourced, it probably needs work on improving its flow (Chris/Tim you have mail ;)) - sadly Steve Williams has confirmed the Holbay 4 branch doesn't fit the Commer :(

Our fibreglass roof repairs finally booked for this week - just now need to decide on a better seal for the roof to help preserve Hunny's new gutters [:0]

Full set of door & window seals bought from Martin Maltas

More Hunny resto pics from Woolfy are imminent :p

CommerFest here we come [8D][8D]

Our Solex inlet manifold (to fit a Weber DGV) and SuperMinx exhaust manifold are both being passed to Tim to work some of his magic :p

Tim, all boxed up last night but forgot and left them at home, so get these posted out tomorrow.

Just bought some 1970's style reflective plates (with the raised plastic digits) for Hunny from Framptons. Bit of a close shave though as foolishly I'd given them the wrong reg no [:0] Luckily the wrong 69 digits can be easily swapped around to be 96 - phew, could've been an expensive mistake !

I had a good catch up with Woolfy last night, he's been fantastic -but I don't need to tell you guys that [8D]. We're not too far from being at the painting stage, so this is being bought locally tomorrow (to ensure recipe matches my testers) - Rootes April Yellow lower and white upper :p

Popping over to see Woolfy next week to deliver the paint and various other bits like seals etc.

Looks as though it's going great Paul, scary when it's all stripped down isn't it,
Another Yellow and white one, we thought that was the nicest combination first time round in 1988, not seen a reason to change our minds since.

yes it wont be long now for the re-spray. as you can see the new inner and outter peak panels look a treat once in place and a little filler here and there. so if yours is rotten you know where to come now for a new one.:D:p;)

Big Bad Woolf

Been away holidaying for 2 weeks in a loaned Commer (Avebury, Glasto etc) [8D][8D][8D] and now recovering ;) whilst catching up with forum activity.

Popped in with Sally to see Woolfy on Saturday - always a pleasure. As you can see the work on Hunny is fantastic and Woolfy's been fantastic throughout, service beyond the call at times - a really decent guy [8D] Highly recommended by us for anybody considering work on their Commer!

Some while ago we realised our original hand painting plan just wouldn't do the quality work justice at all. I've been grabbing what overtime I can since Christmas so we can now get a decent respray. Hoorah !

Our cellulose paint has now been ordered for Rootes colours April Yellow & Polar White from www.auto-paint.co.uk :p (their price is £16.95 + VAT if this is of use to others in future). Incredibly for a 50 year old 'recipe' I simply spoke to the guy, gave him the ICI/Delco codes and within seconds he'd referenced them to Talbot equivalents and confirmed availability.

Our replacement roof is finally having it's damage repaired tomorrow (long story) this roof will give us both rear perspex panels as one of Hunny's have been fibreglassed over in the past. Realising only 6 Hi-Tor conversions were ever made (from TorCars register) getting this replacement was a real horse-rocking poo moment and wouldn't have been possible without this forum.

Calling into the garage later this week to catch up on our Holbay and overdrive gearbox rebuilds, these should be almost ready by now. Taken a while longer than anticipate but largely due to me forgetting to supply them with a couple of key bits - doh [B)]

All in all, July is a very exciting month us, as not only might Hunny be ready but next week we move back into our house after 12 months away for an extension project. Build should've only 4 months but due to unforeseen mains cables supplying the next street this badly delayed us while EDF moved them. Can't wait for Hunny & house :p

Lovely looking work. Woolfy's workshop really is like a rehabilitation centre for old Commers!

Paul, how did you find out the ICI/Delco Codes? Are they on a chart that was floating about on here some time a go?

Paul, thanks for the link to the paint suppliers. Did you have any problems with compliance when ordering the paint? Were they happy to supply you as a private individual, or did you have to order it through Woolfy? How much paint do you need for a Commer?

Sorry for all the questions, but I intend to return my old Renault back to its original colour (Blue Fonce), which was only used on the 17 for one year from October 1972. I have obtained the correct paint code through the club, but I haven't bought any cellulose paint since the new regulations came into force.
