'A taste of honey'

Interesting to hear from a fellow TorCars fan - selfishly, I'm so glad you didn't bid any higher ;) as we love their Hi-Tor conversion. It's the perfect compromise for us between a campervan and the capacity of the coachbuilts (at the time, it was the only side-door conversion that we'd seen for sale and that was its 'USP')
quote:
It was in an article in PC later that year IIRC too
Yes, I've a copy somewhere, whilst with the previous owner it was a group test of the Commer plus Toyota, Fiat and Moskivich campers

Also, last year I acquired a piccy of Hunny as she was when rescued from the scrappy about 9 years ago by her previous, previous owner. She was missing an interior and some glass but apparently been in regular use as a working van until that point [:0]

Unfortunately, ealier in the year due to personal circumstances I'd just not been on the forum for months and not seen the updates to this thread. However all was settled back in May when Woolfy called me up, my apologies made and final funding agreed (I appreciate I should've kept things moving along myself without a chase up)

Only fair but as a result we lost our place in Woolfy's 'production line' however we're now next up following the imminent completion of Lee's 'Dog' !

Anyway back to the present, really good to see our thread reactivated - particularly with such splendid timing ! We can't wait to see Hunny resprayed and then back with us in Norfolk for her Holbay [:0] & overdrive fitting this autumn

Then over winter & early spring, I'll work on replacing her interior, She came without one part-ripped from an Auto-Sleeper plus some home-made additions. Having seen in the flesh an original TorCars interior in their SunTor conversion plus some interior pics of the rotten Hi-Tor we sourced our spare roof (basically SunTor & HiTor had the same interior, just different roofs) I'm intending to base my new refit on that configuration wherever possible.

Have set myself a target date of finishing on May 2012 (including fettling and mechanical shakedowns)- ready for late spring and summer Commering :p

The manager of our local Halfrauds runs a TorCars conversion of an Austin A60 van. It's a minter!

I kind of ended up with Atilla the Marina cos I felt sorry for it. It's just gone a month or two ago to the Isle of Wight and to a good home where he will be treated to a full on restoration.

My original plan was to get a camper that was solid and redesign the inside to my spec. To be honest though the inside of the Marina was... err... compact ;), and I had no chance of bettering the use of space in there. Plus it was in fairly good order.

The Suntor conversions do seem pretty good on all the vans they did. Well thought out and elegant. I've got a Suntor brochure somewhere, cant remember if it has the Commer on it though. Has the Sherpa! [)]. There is a Suntor register too, not sure if you know that or not?

Anyway, I digress. Good to see your Hunny is still about [8D] If you ever feel like selling her, give me a shout! :D

Great news that the Dog's going for its MOT today, as 'next in line' I need to call Woolfy to catch up on Hunny's progress. Really hoping that our respray and reassembly can crack on now, summer's coming [8D]
