That's just it mate. When you strip them you find out where all the screws nuts and bolts go! Some are hidden!;)

we have undertaken this repair many times now ,but i think the most promenant one which panky is on about was on the hunny resto. im sure someone will pull it up on here for you to see soon enough.;)

Hey Alan that's not a bad job at all. Grind the welds down with a flap disc and you will be surprised how much better things can look ;) damn good for a first attempt too. It's not always about how good it is. It's more about that you tried:)
 
Totally agree, you should see some of my welding even after years of trying:I The one thing I would advise is to do away with the disposable CO2 cylinders and go for a reasonable sized re-fillable one and regulator. If you have a friendly contact in the pub trade then you will have a new best friend but I got mine from a local welding suppliers, it cost about £80 to get set up (and I know you'll find it cheaper elswhere) but I must have spent double that on those horrible little things from Halfords at a tenner each over the years[V] Now I don't have to worry about running out and a re-fill is £15 - for about 20 times the amount a disposable holds.
You're going to tell me you mate uses Argoshield now aren't you:I
