Just bought a resto project spacevan. Which wasn't the solid body to work on lead to believe. Screen pillars door runners and both footwells are nigh on disappeared. The chassis and engine and box are Good, but where to start and where to get pillars from ????

Hi John and welcome to the Madhouse:D
Well done for taking the project on, much respect. Martin Maltas is the man to source new and second hand spares from, you will find him on here so drop him a PM and I'm pretty sure he will sort you out.

Cheers for the quick reply, just hope the old girl isn't too far gone, I wouldn't have took it on so bad but I didn't do the deal a friend did. But I'l do my best

Hi John sounds like we've got another "why on earth did I start this....I must be bonkers" scenario but don't worry to much as many of us have been there. My only advice (assuming that your used to much less rampant rot) is to set small goals and never let yourself get consumed with the bigger picture. Martin has a fabulous stock pile and most metal work can be formed from sheet steel if your really struggling. Like panky says pictures of the van would be good so we can hopefully give out more advice.

Hi. There are plenty of folk on here with good advice and a font of knowledge. I'm a mechanical idiot so I can't help much nor can i weld etc etc. I do little bits. Luckily I don't even know enough to be dangerous but i have picked a few brains on here and had helpful advice so I think this is a great place to start

Not setting a time scale is exactly what I did otherwise you end up doing work that you might not necessarily want to be doing and mistakes are made. Enjoyment and satisfaction are the key...in my humble opinion

You always find more than you expect so timescales always slip - as well as budgets
