$10K Highwayman

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Caravans-motorhomes/Motorhomes/Up-to-5-metres/auction-183885453.htm
Just thought I'd put this up to gauge an idea of whether we got a bargain on our van. NZ$10k is approx. 3,600 pound, to us that's a hell of a lot of money for something that really won't get up a lot of hills here heh.

Oh sorry didnt mean to confuse, this isn't ours just a current auction we found today.
We have a 1500 which we picked up for a fraction of this amount. Anyway answers our question, we really thought this was extremely overpriced.

I am easily confused :II thought you had an attack of commeritus

difficult to say on value, depends on what sort of money people are prepared to pay for motorhomes where you are. Weird conversion[:0], looks home-grown to me - strange brass arrangement on the tap. Roof over cab looks tourstar but rest looks more like the result of a rummage around in the shed for things that looked useful:D

Well found, great to see another variation on the commer camper theme[8D]

I love the look of that, home grown genius by the look of it[^]. The poor old 1725 would really struggle to haul it around [xx(]

Novel idea using the standard spare wheel holder, bolted to the front, although can't be doing the cooling any good [B)]

I hadn't noticed that, clever [^] could be why there seems to be an extra 'scoop' under the front bumper and the engine cover is up [:0]

we will be concentrating all our efforts on commy...but commeritis....definately!This site is awesome!

AHA!!! we have you in our power[}:)] It's not called The Madhouse for nothing and soon you'll be as daft as the rest of us :p
I'm on nights here at the moment so will be dipping in and out for a while - keeping NZ time for now [|)]

it looks to me as though they have cut off the lower front valance and hanging panel by front door step to me at some stage[?] still very nice, but i wouldnt want to be in it when going up hills in wales.:p;)

ahhhh, we just harness some sheep dog-sled style for the steeper bits;):D

Glad you're enjoying site, New Zealand looks amazing - what a place to explore in a commer camper[:0]. Am really hoping you can post us a couple of photos of your adventures once you get to collect lovely new van:)

Of course we will!..we cant wait either...we just need some power to get us up the hills,... and some brakes to help us get back down again, by the sounds of things. But apparently...that's the fun of owning a Commer? heh.;)

NZ is absolutely gorgeous, there is no question about that ! :)

But if any of you up here in the northern hemisphere feel that NZ is too far away, Norway has also got plenty of steep hills, twisty roads and sheep (to pull you). Scenery is not that different, I don't think, and the ferry trip across is a bit shorter too... if you live in the UK, at least.

Mind you, I'd think twice before I let my Commer loose here - that being both uphill and downhill ! I can smell overheating rootes engines and burnt drum brakes already.. [xx(]

is that a road or a seismograph reading[:0] wow! yes you'll need to uprate the brakes! have to plan my route here to avoid mountain roads as have had no brakes by the end of them[B)]

that is one superb bit of road[:X]

Weather in the summer I'd say is a bit like Scotland: You never know when the rain and wind will come, but otherwise it is glorious! :) Often a bit chilly up in the mountains, even during summer. Apat from that it is normally pretty mild and fine. Even baking hot sometimes [8D]

Roads are generally pretty empty, which is a revelation compared to England - and even Scotland - in traffic terms. Some amazing scenery to be had in most places, especially on the western coast - all the way to the top. Even though these norwegians seem to have a mission in connecting all islands with bridges (they will be working on that for a few hundred years still, I should imagine, as there must be millions of islands..), there are still a lot of cosy ferrys around the coast. Which is a great thing when on holiday, as you get a break and see so much.

Maybe even a "Commer community trip" to Norway could be a thought for a summer sometime in the future :D:D Would definitely be something different !

And it's not that far away, really:

But now I'm stealing the New Zealand attention completely with my Norway talk, and that was not really the intention. Sorry, lads and gals :I
