Hi Adam. I removed the little radiator blocking the grill and haven't refitted it yet. I suspect it was doing more harm than good where it was and just fitted in the cab heater loop anyway. Will remove the rad and take it for a re-core later in the week and progress from there.

Hello all. So the fettling progresses slowly on Pootle and we are now looking to improve cooling as she is running a bit hot. I have flushed out the system with Wynn's rad-flush but to be honest it didn't do too much and I think we really need to have the radiator re-cored to do the job...

So new Revotec fan has arrived but before fitting I thought, I'll flush cooling system, then run some coolant cleaner through, then fit the fan..... Easy! Eerm.... So disconnect feed to dashboard rad and connect hose in order to flush the dash and series connected radiators through..... No...

Hello again. OK so I've done a few short runs around town to bed the engine in and have spent some time farting around with temperature sensors so I can get an idea if the engine is running too hot. I now have an accurate temp meter checked against an accurate thermocouple so I dare drive it...

Well the great moment arrived and after a bit of delay getting petrol through to twin Strombergs the new motor sprang to life perfectly and was idling nicely after a couple of minutes. Oil pressure around 30psi on fast idle and no water or oil leaks to be seen. All a pleasant surprise really...

Thanks for input as always guys. I can sort out rads and cooling later and will fit a decent electric fan once it's running. At the moment I fear I'm procrastinating and focussing on bits of nothing rather than connecting the engine up and giving it a try.... What do I do if it doesn't work...
