    Out and About

Indeed, several, and if we'd waited much longer while The AA demoted our case 3 times because we had the sense to pull of the dual carriageway into a safe industrial estate road we might have kipped down for the night. Hot tip: If you must break down do it in a really dangerous spot for quick...

    Bumbling round Sri Lanka

Wonderful Jim. We loved India (Christmas 2018), partly for some of the ancient modes of transport they still keep going. I had a go at driving a Tuk-Tuk. Probably not strictly legal, but great fun in city traffic.

    Jennings restoration

Soooooo............ Today I crack tested the head. I blanked off the thermostat housing, and the heater connections with a loop of pipe. Then I trigged it level and upside down.................. ...........and filled it with water with a smidge of washing up liquid to find any cracks...

    Jennings restoration

    >>>>>>>>>>OK if you've come from the "Out and About" thread, things have got curiouser and curiouser. Beryl arrived home on the "Flatbed of Shame" today, and is now parked up in the barn with suspected cylinder head gasket failure. I pulled the head off straight away revealing...

    Out and About

We popped down to Cornwall yet again on Friday. This time we stopped at the very "Hip" site at Treen near Porthcurno. Just turn up, they don't do bookings. It's a lottery in the summer but this time of year.......... ..........there's plenty of room with a view. Gorgeous but chilly, (but we...

    Diff Seal

Don't put up with a weeping seal. It'll cause problems if you leave it.

OK. Attached is the original Lucas document for 17ACR swaps.

    dynamator To alternator

Many dynamo to alternator swaps can be done with a length of threaded rod with nuts/spacers/washers using the original bracket. I've done several like that myself. Best alternator to use is usually a 17ACR Lucas type still freely available. Make sure you buy left or right handed to suit your...

    Jennings restoration

Yes, re-installed the shiny pump today and put everything back on. Earth lead from the starter was fizzling and smoking so replaced it with a super heavy duty item. It's made a huge difference to cranking speed. Should have fitted a proper one years ago instead of one from my bits box! Trial...

    Jennings restoration

A freshly ultrasonically cleaned and reconditioned diesel injection pump is certainly a thing of beauty......... Ouch! there goes an arm. And a leg! Satisfying to see the bag of old bits they took off though. I'll fit the shiny pump tomorrow and report back. Not expecting miracles...

    Jennings restoration

Here's the old synchro springs. You can see they are all worn at the hook end, and at two other places, and one of them is half way through. Silly me for not doing them last time. I wonder what happens when they break:oops:? Also bought a NOS ignition switch off eBay. Nothing actually wrong...

    Jennings restoration

BerYL is off the road for some scheduled repairs and upgrades. Gear engagement when hot and stationary has been quite difficult, making pulling away from traffic lights a slow business. I've bought a roller type clutch release bearing so I can sit at lights with the clutch down. I got this one...

    My Jennings has moved..!!

When I've driven our Jennings a long distance (usually late at night), then go to sleep (once safely at home!), I sometimes dream about driving it. The dream is always the same, and involves me not getting on the brakes early enough in some kind of emergency. This dream is trying to tell me...
